Exhaust rattle? I know its been beat to death

Ok so here are the bullet points
Ive read almost all the posts on rattles but nothing gives any clarity.
I have no heat shields left. I took the front, rear shields off and yesterday i took off the y pipe heat-shield. I have no main cat, and the pre cats have been gutted so no debris is in either one. Since taking off the last one (ypipe HS) it is more pronounced. My Oil is fine, i know its not the timing chain due to removing the ypipe heat-shield and right after it increased. The only other things i have to look at are the flex pipe and if the exhaust hits anywhere...which im pretty sure it doesn't hit as all areas have good spacing.

Only other things i can think is maybe the heat-guard for the steering rack?

My rattle is the same as all the posts. Between 1500- 2000. Also like someone said the car has a more pronounced vibration in that area so im sure that has something to do with it.

Does anyone have any other ideas. im at my wits end. I could leave it but it is so annoying and it is loud enough that other cars and people walking def hear it.

ARRRRGGGGHHH what the heck is this rattle

If your exhaust has a silencer that could be loose and rattling (happening to my boys honda). It could be a leak anywhere up to and including the manifold or have you checked the simple things such as the exhaust hangers?

Or it could even be a bad cat... sometimes the sensors won't pic it up because the emissions are still fine but the cat could be cracked and the pieces of ceramic are rattling inside there.

have you tried the 'hoseclamp around all your exhaust hangers' fix? That eliminated all my rattles.

this is the only thing i can come up with. Spent the morning out there looking and moving parts so they werent near anything. No change. I have all the heat shields gone so it isnt them and no cats/ gutted. I took off the wire mesh surrounding the flex pipe and that isnt it. All is tight and nothing is touching. So after listening to it as i can get it to happen if im in neutral and rev the gas. Sounds like it is coming from the rear part of the exhaust. It isnt a rattle but i think it may be the resonance of the exhaust making the "bees in the can" rattle. It doesnt sound like bees in a can though. It honestly sounds like metal rusted or rotted inside the muffler and is vibrating at those certain rpms. Like i said everything is removed or tight. is there a way to get rid of the "rattle" if it is due to the rpm "bees in the can". what type of fix is for that?

Jack it up and idle it......and inspect it for the noise source then the only way I would do it!

one other thing i did that may have made the rattle more is after i gutted the precats. I took the rear one and put a piece of 2in pipe inside. I then welded it so it wouldn't move or ...rattle. Now i now the rattle isn't coming from there as the sound is from the rear. but im wondering if it is resonating thru the entire exhaust and making a frequency that vibrates the exhaust.

I have something like this going on, too. It isn't at any certain RPM points, though, just when I rev up past 20ish. It gets louder and louder and then it cuts out. It sounds like it is coming from my engine; something I am slowly getting more nervous about. I replaced my drive axels and my shock struts when the driver side blew and it made no difference, so I am thinking it is near the engine/transmission connection. Along with all of it, I get random driver rear O2 sensor SES call-outs. So lost on this damn rattle and I need it to stop so I can rest easy.

Use a broom stick and adjust the seat to the desired rpm.....a brick or something

ok so i figure the noise out. The weld tacks holding the pipe in were not big enough and the pipe cracked the weld and the pipe was ***** nilly inside. So my question is this.

The rear cat is shaped like a long oval tube. About 10 inches long and 4-5 inches wide with a 2 1/8 in hole near the manifold and a 1/7/8 hole against the y pipe.

m y though was leaving this open and having the exhaust go from the exhaust manifold into a large open space and then back into a small tube again the airflow would be slowed down and a bunch of turbulence created. SO i put in the pipe to keep the scavenging effect constant.

Any of you out there think leaving it just gutted would be better/worse/dont know than rewelding it better and strong as such it would in effect be a DIY test pipe for the rear cat?

I have a rattle too, but I think it's because my muffler pipe broke :s
