HOW TO PLEASE READ- 98 to 99 ecu
ok i'm wondering if anyone has rewired or "bypassed" the nats or security issues w/ using other ecus w/ a 99. i have a friend whos got a 98 jwt ecu and wanna use it for my boost setup and after talking with jwt they said you can u this ecu if you rewire or bypass the security stuff. i've looked on alldata and can't seem to find anything. Any advice? Thanks
I'm pretty sure its been done using a 96 ECU and JWT has to program it specifically for the 99 w/ NATS. I am not sure about the details of it as it has been years since I looked into this but I don't think that the keys had to be reprogrammed or the immobilizer reset. Zack342 had it in his 4th gen several years ago.
yea i believe i used to have zachs jwt ecu then i sold it to another org member. wish i kept it so i could have just got it reflashed but i gotta another one coming so o well but i was seeing if i could avoid sending it to JWT and waiting the turn around time
You need to move one of the crank wires as well. I don't think you have to worry about nats when the ecu is switched since older ecu's don't need the signal from it to turn on the car.
