Time to Upgrade My 6 Month Old CM Muffler!!

Okay fellas here's the deal...about six months ago I copped/installed a 4thgen Custom Maxima Catback along with CES front pipe/Magna flow Cat. From the start I planned on changing the muffler cause it was never what I really wanted, plus it's border line Ricer. The muffler sounds okay/performs okay but really I just wanted the resonator pipe...I did this before some of you guys had got that company to fab up those exhaust parts recently. So anyway now I'm looking performance mufflers...we all know there isn't to many companies offering direct fit performance parts for our 3rdgens these days so I'm looking at 5thgen mufflers.

I think the 5th gen muffler does nothing but increase low end power, but ppl said it had a 1hp gain. Well to me anything stock size is restrictive, i have the stock muffler and a y-pipe with a high flow cat and it sounds pretty darn good with a nice rumble.

I'm interested in getting a performance muffler too tho I'm not famaliar with how exactly itl sound..I'm looking for a sexy rumble but I don't want something o.d loud/annoying/neighborhood disturbing.

A friend of mine has a racing dynamique muffler he wants to sell, anyone currently using this brand? Or know of it may appeal to me

Cmax posted a site link in the thread, the exhaust we all got from that group deal is available online i think now, cant remember but im pretty sure.

if you get the exhaust piping we got, just get a 18" resonator and muffler of choice and thats it. i just went with a GSX-71 can and OBX resonator and it sounds about as deep as you can get

if you just want to go with a muffler, i would go with a G35 one. Stwothehorty had one and it sounded good

I forgot about the G35 sedan mufflers, that'll sound nice too.

Thanks for the compliment though!

Ohhhhhh man that fits nice on da max? I always liked that sound but it started to get annoying when EVERYONE in ny area owns one and to top it off the fx pretty much sounds the same nd there's plenty of those too..but it wld b sick to see/hear my max with that g35 muffler

Anytime meng no offence I never was rly into the 4th gen look jus cuz idk I guess cuz my ve came first but yours has a rly sporty look to it and I like the lowered look with blacked out lips/skirts

The G35 does not get its sound from the muffler alone.

It's a combination of the equal-length y-pipe and the b-pipe resonator that make that unique Z/G exhaust note. The muffler just cancels out the raspiness.

Ah thanks bret till now I kinda blindly assumed you can mix nd match which kinda purr your looking for by simply swappin mufflers but now that I think about it, it makes sense that the rest of the exhuast system would have an impact on the actual noise itself. I thnk I newbishly assumed that cuz I got a wsp y pipe nd I didn't hear a dif so I jus thought oh yea the muffler wld do that.

In your opinion how you thnk that g muffler wld sound wld it make a dif if I got a wsp y thanks btw

Yeah the G35 muffler might actually sound good with my exhaust set up, as long as it's inlet is 2.5" and I believe they are. I'm leaving everything else intact unless something ain't flowin' right when I change out the muffler..I don't foresee that happening though. There actually nothing wrong with the CM muffler, it sounds pretty good for what it is but it's mos def not the look I'm going for without a rear effect. It looks better with the 4thgen because of the way the 4thgen has the rear lip. I was sleepin' on the G35 muffler but I'm gonna see what one will run me, good lookin'.
