I never realized just how much duh Max use to dive into corners and turns now she handles so much better. Now I need a driver's seat with better support because I am sliding left to right (leather) while cornering but more importantly the Max is not all over the road anymore. Such a cheap investment why did'nt Nissan put one on from the factory. My 91 Legend (previous car) came with one.

 

 

I agree on the FSTB issue as well! The Maxima must be lowered as well...performance springs at very least! Especially the new 2k2 Max! Stock Maximas have crappy handling and high speed stability IMO.

 

I don't agree. Yes, I have driven Maxima's with them, and maybe its just me, but I didn't feel a difference. What DOES make a big difference is the tires that you have on.

 

Actually the FSTB tightens up the steering..

if you have driven a Stock Accord and a Stock Maxima you will appreciate the difference after the FSTB..

 

Hmm, would you recommend it for someone that already has suspension work done though?

 

The bar makes the track more "staight lined" over bumps as opposed to the sloppy feel over bumps without it. I definitely noticed it when I put it in.

Heh, if only someone made a FSTB that actually fits the VE I had to pretty much make my own custom mounting brackets. I didnt really notice any difference, but my suspension was already fully modded by the time I did the FSTB. It cant hurt, and sure does look cool.

 

It's all a big conspiracy. I noticed nothing. I even did a before and after test.

The absolute number one thing that helped handling, even greater than lowering shocks/springs, was going from 15" to 17"/z-rated tires. Wow!

Now that X-mas break is finally here (last final yesterday - yeah-hoo!), I can install my rear anti-sway bar. I just hope that isn't a big let down like the FSTB...

Ya tires and rims help too. But I say FSTB (because it is cheap and easy to install), then springs. Springs made the most difference IMO. High speed stability was improved big time with springs!!

 

Body roll reduction was my biggest thing.

I didn't feel the greatest difference with the FSTB. I mean, I guess steering response improved a little, and I would probably feel the difference if I removed it...ah! what am I talkin about. It's a good mod for the money

Now...just waiting for the urethane bushings and AGXs to be installed NOW lets see if I really feel a difference.

 

It wasn't a huge improvement. But I did feel my steering tighten up a little. Which felt better.

But it's a good first mod.

 

Since installing the FSTB on my 2000 I30 turning and lane changes feel more secure/accurate. No doubt. Also have the K&N filter and feel a mild improvment in acceleration. The home depot front grill on the bottom looks good and gives it a "finished" look, but doesn't make my car any faster...or does it?

Thats all my mods....fairly light compared to the rest of you!

 

 

I dont know why didnt you notice anything but I surely did, when I put my on 4 days ago and today I put it to the test around 3 big curves, works great.

I think the FSTB is my biggest waste of money mod. Didn't really notice any difference. I've enjoyed the Short Throw shifter and JWT ECU the most.

 

No but on a serious note I did notice it, not to be in my head etc..either you guys are not picky and pay attention or dont drive like maniacs around a big curve like I do, I noticed a difference I dont hear the tires trying to grip no more.

 

Very subtle change with the brace, for me it makes initial turn-in seem a little sharper. But retailers will always oversell the worth of the FSTB because its a volume seller that anyone can afford and fit.

 

ANY more man, ANY more. Yeah, I hear you. It sounds like you did the same/simular test I did but when I did mine, I noticed nothing. What I did was weeks before hand I would take familar on-ramps, 90^ turns, sharp turns, etc. at certain speeds and raise the speed each time until I heard the tires squeel(sp.?). I did that for each different curve and memorized the max. speed. I then redid all those corners/on-ramps and got the same results! The tires squeeled at the same m.p.h. If you noticed an improvement doing the same tests, then that's great. I wish I did.

 

I noticed a much bigger difference when I put a bigger rear and front anti-sway bar on than with the FSTB. I spent $200 on the FSTB and sent it back to Stillen because I was so dissapointed. I've got another one coming from Place Racing, but it was only $70 and I'm much better spending that on an upgrade that's mostly for looks than 200.00! Anyway, it did a little for my steering but my 17" aluminum rims wiht ZR tires did the most for handling. That was MY first upgrade.

With a car that understeers like the Maxima, wouldn't FSTB just make it scrub the front tires even more. I would have thought that mods to the rear would have a bigger bang for the buck when it comes to cornering.

 

Yeah, you got the right idea. It's really all in the feel, and can't be tested by doing 90mph on an off ramp and comparing speeds vs. squeeling tires.

 

my car oversteers alot of the time. It actually has pretty neutral handling.

 

The FSTB won't affect that that much, only spring-like things do much (sway bars, springs) to affect understeer/oversteer. From what I've heard, the FSTB mainly makes the car feel better and less squirely around the corner.

 

Yes , exactly, that is how it felt. Just more stable on corners.
