60K Tune-up -- Dealer or DIY?

Yep, it's that time -- I'm at 59K miles! So, how much does it cost to take the car to a Nissan dealership to have them do the 60K tune-up? How much does it cost to do it yourself, how hard is it, and how long does it take?

the only hard thing is getting the fuel filter out.. If you have lots of patience and strength it should be no problem..

To replace spark plugs is a piece of cake..

If you want to flush the coolant system, I recommend going to a Jiffy Lube - type place because its also kind of a pain to do it yourself..

I did it at 54k at the dealer--20% off coupon = $385. The reason I wanted the dealer to do it was for documentation's sake. I never had any service whatsoever except oil changes, so if anything happened before 60k I didn't want anyone saying the car's never been serviced. Plus, my car was leaking oil and I always have this feeling that if you take your car in for something warranty-only, it comes back "no problem found at this time." It takes a little $$$ changing hands to get some problems solved.

I poked around under the hood after the service and it does look like my dealer actually performed the services listed on the invoice. The battery was filled, corrosion removed, pcv, fuel filter, air filter (I had to throw the orig. back in since I use a K&N panel), plugs (looks like a tool was used to undo the nuts). They even went so far as to drain the windshield washer (which was full), refill it, and give me the remainder of the new fluid!
