WTF is going on at 135k.

So in the last few months, I have had to replace all these items. The car only has 135k on it and i find it weak that all these parts have failed.

Alternator
Starter
EGR Valve
Water Pump
Wheel Bearings

and now the Air Conditioner.

The motor runs great, burns absolutely no oil and has great compression in all cylinders.

Interesting...
I am now at just over 200K and in my history with the max here is what I have had to replace:
- Rotors and pads 3X
- Radiator and hoses
- Alternator
- Low Pressure AC Hose
- Rear Valve Cover gasket
- Front valve cover gasket pending
- Struts at about 140K
- 3 sets of tires. On my 4th set now.
- Inner Outer Tie rods at 135K
- LCA's at 140K
- Pending upper oil pan leak
- Need new Rear downstream O2 sensor due to horrible design of Warpspeed y pipe.
- Going to replace primary O2's as PM this week.
- MAF at 199K

I would say in most of my work has been wear and tear which over 200K miles is really not bad. I am amazed I am still on my factory bearings!
Compared to my 96 civic which needed the exhaust manifold due to a freaking manufacturing defect, and numerous other issues... the maxima has so far been issue free and being payment free for 5 yrs has made me love this car even more!
I recently treated her for good behaviour by swapping out the Bose for a nice Pioneer double din
Good Luck!

I'm at 112k, and I had to replace:

Driver side CV boot
rotors & pads
all 6 fuel injectors (3 actually needed replacing, but I decided to just do all 6)
MAF

Coming soon:
front and rear pre-cats, O2 sensors, possibly starter.

All fairly easy/inexpensive items to replace(except the water pump, it's time-consuming). Also, these are all standard items to replace on most vehicles over 100k. Call up your local part stores and check the inventory for these items on other vehicles. You'll find it to be the same on most decade old vehicles. Think that's bad? Just wait until that Audi and Porsche start advancing in age.

I bought the car with 87k (so there is some mystery to how it was treated beforehand). I am now at 103k, this is my list:

- Thermostat
- Front bank o2 sensor
- spark plugs (my own intiative)
- rear valve cover/gasket (oil in spark plug chamber)
- cam positioning sensor
- Throttle body (my fault for thinking i could clean it)
- rear calipers (only passenger side was bad, but did both)
- pads and rotors
- getting codes for the vapor control valve on the charcoal canister (probably my fault again)
- I am suspect of water pump going bad, we will see...

Not exactly happy, but being that it does have 100k, and not knowing the history... i guess it is ok. Just hope that this will be it for a while!

p.s. nice license plate

135,008 Mi as this morning (Bought with 67K)

Motormounts
Plugs
Brakes (Went with the 6th Gen Brakes)
I do need a rear valve cover

So far the only thing bolts I have had to turn on this car to keep it driveable was the water crossover tube that goes between the heads. One of the gaskets failed.

I've also had to replace:

LCA
CV boot
O2 sensors
Coilpacks
Brakes

I've driven many cars and this one has required the most maintenance and replacement parts. Hell, I had a camry that didn't give me one problem. Had a Honda that only needed a starter in it's 10 years with me. I also had a toyota corolla that i put 280k miles on it without one problem. Nothing on that car needed replacing, except for brakes and tires and the standard tune-up.

Yeah, but depending what you are going for, it is well worth it.

I drive a ton for work, and there is no way I would get another corolla. The comfort level/amenities on this car make it all worth it. The corolla was initially appealing, but when it becomes your office, it was very uncomfortable.

Did you put all 280k on your corolla?

I had a 125k+ on my '00 (before the total) and nothing failed its entire life. I replaced the belts after I bought it and that was it (and they still had life left, I just didn't risk it). Brakes were replaced by previous owner with brembos, but there was nothing wrong with the stockers.

If I was going for reliability and not power, you can bet that I would pick up another 5.0 any day.

Starter and alternator, those are almost considered regular maintenance on 2000-2003 Altimas and Maximas at about 100,000 miles, same thing with the radiator.

Radiator? Oh no, I'll bet that'll go next week now that you mentioned it.

Three.five SE, the corolla was a hand me down from my dad who did most of the miles. I just added to them.

I do agree that this car is very comfortable and roomy inside. I love just floating around town in it.
