Cold Start Transmission Isssue! Please Step In!!!!

Having a little issue with cold start up and transmission.

Heres the issue,

When i turn the car on ( cold start) and drive away when shifting from first to second the car really doesnt want to shift, I have to ease off the gas to get the shift to go through but when the car warms up after 2-4 mins it shifts from first to second with out no problem / hesitation.

A buddy of mine suggested that it might be that I need to change the transmission fluid, that when fluids warms up in the transmission is causes beter shifting. Is this true??? Do I need to change the transmission fluid or do you guys think its something else?

Thks in advance,
luis

Well it's normal to some extent ... Our 03 GLE is exactly the same , jerky shifts when cold , gradually getting smooth and smoother when warmed up ... i guess this is the common behaviour for our maximas .... Probably a good fresh drian and refill with Amsoil fluid would be a good idea ... In my case , even after using Amsoil , cleaning the fluid pan , magnets and the filter didn't make it better ....... Be easy with the tranny til the car is fully warmed up ..... BTW , what's the year and milage on your car ? any maintenance done to the transmission before ?

2002 3.5 se. tranny was rebuilt december of 2009. this just started happening about a week or so ago. has never done this before. btw the car has 148,000 miles on it. i believe tranny was rebuilt around 120ish. Have to look at the paper work to be exact.

Mine does the same thing, only when cold, once warm enough it shifts fine.
