Hi all i have a 95....my flex pipe is total rusted and tearing apart. Im looking to replace with one of this "alumimun strechable pipes" from autzone...they have few sizes...any one know what size would work for the max????

 

Get an actual SS flex section off eBay and have that welded in. Aluminum will rust over time and who knows if that "stretchable pipe" will even work.

 

 

Agree with the above. Alum is hard/expensive to weld in even if possible and clamps leak; almost always. Had same problem with Toyota and did the same thing you are asking. Lasted 2 months. Replacements are rather expensive but in long run save lots of headaches. Try Midas, Meineke or the like. GL

Why not just buy an aftermarket Y pipe (cheapo) with flex pipe already on there? Cost somewhat the same (if you install y pipe yourself vs taking to a shop and having them weld in the new piece) and you gain a tiny bit of performance?

 

Joining any aluminium part to steel results in the aluminium part rotting away really quickly due to electrolytic corrosion. MAZIT = Mg, Al, Zn, Fe, Sn. Aluminium is higher in the series than iron and so it corrodes first. In other words aluminium flex sections aren't going to last longer than 5 minutes.
