MAP/BARO switch solenoid valve and MAP sensor dissed

My car has a broken MAP/Baro switch solenoid valve. Yes it has taken me ages to discover this. The car runs fine. . .
On this diagram, (part 5 in the upper diagram) the top hose shown is dangling in the air because the inlet port on the valve is broken off, and the lower port on the valve has been sealed (by someone other than me) with sealant, presumably because the plastic bit is also broken off.
I'll have to see if any org members have one for sale, but in the meantime, does anyone know what - if any - effect this problem has on performance or whatever? Thanks.

I don't really think the ability to read either is important as long as the MAF is working. The computer probably looks at the manifold absolute pressure and can check if the mass-airflow sensor reading is valid based on the barometric absolute pressure. In other words, I think the ability to read MAP/BARO is for diagnostic purposes only.

Thanks. I think I will try to find one anyway. I hate having broken bits.

Don't get me wrong, you should definitely repair it. I thought the question pertained to the period of time before you could fix it.

Ah! No. The previous owner "arranged" that. I definitely want to fix it.

Clive,

What year is your car? I've pulled one from a junk yard 5 months ago, but didn't need it due to the fact my problem was that the wire snapped off.

PM me with your address. I can ship it to you.
