OEM Key Fob Replacement

Searched but didn't find too much on this.

After 22 years of driving I have lost my first OEM key (I still have one of the two). My dealer told me $200 but he said he may be able to do better. I looked on eBay and everything seems a little gray market or worse.

I went to a couple of OEM Nissan part sites that look to have the fob and the uncut key for $100-$130 (Total).

Does anyone have any OEM sites they have used in the past they could recommend? Also, what should, could or would the dealer charge me for programming the fob? I guess I could go to my local hardware store to get the key cut.

Thanks for the help.

I've found them for $80 just doing a search in Google by the way. This was brand new and uncut but as far as I know you have to go to Nissan to get it programmed.

unless your car battery is dead all the time i wouldn't bother with getting the actual key cut and just have the FOB programmed

you might not want to advertise on the internet that you hide a spare key on the outside of your car

Just called up my dealer to get a replacement key fob they told me $106 and than $35 to program it. I found one brand new never used from Amazon.com for $53.95 going to get it from them and than have the dealer program it.

So do they make a Hide-A-Key for the pull out key on the push to start fob? Doesn't fit any I've tried at the car parts stores.

Just get a plain jane key made at the car parts store or Wally World and hide that one. It is only used to open the doors anyway so it does not make any difference what it looks like.

Follow up question: how reliable are those Hide-A-Keys? Will they stay on if I hit a pot hole or a patch of bad road? Last thing I need is to have a situation where I need the key to get in the car and it's fallen of who knows when.

I'm new to the site, and I just brought a used 2010 Maxima a couple of weeks ago. The car only came with one key and I have gotten a new keyfob and key, but I've called a couple of dealers close to me in Temple Hills, MD and they are quoting me $120 to program the fob. I see others on this post saying the dealer has charged them $35 or $50 to program them. So is $120 the going price to have the dealer program the fob or are the dealers I've called just trying to make extra money off of me? Thank for any help that's provided.

where do you put the cut key

So I have a 2012 SV/P+Tech. Where do you put the cut key to start the car? Is there a key hole somewhere i cannot see or find?

That's what the service adviser charges but if you can get the adviser to talk to the tech and do it on the side that's how u get it done for cheap.

I have a local locksmith that does re-programming like this for a fraction of what the stealerships charge. You just need to know what's out there.
