Finally getting tuned...
Well, as to be expected you can not get true numbers. We even disabled the ABS system. Big brother still feels the need to shift about 500-RPMs too early. FP's dyno is notoriously low so I wouldn't put much stock in the final numbers. What o do know is that we gained 14 (13.9 to be exact) horsepower from the tune. I have Cory's block-off plates and spacers, and a Takeda Sri and this thing was fatt! Most of the power was gained by leaning it out. I'll scan my dyno-sheet later. His dyno showed a baseline of 197 and a final of 210.9. Like I said, his readings are always low but drivability is really what we were after.
Well, what changed was 14-HP and 11-ft/lbs of torque. The gain was across the entire range. Where exhaust or intake might affect the top-end, this is felt everywhere! There is still a slight lag on take-off, but then it is like a light switch. Sorta like getting a 2-stroke up on the pipe. It screams on top, even with my quiet exhaust set-up

I can't see why Nissan isn't smart enough to sell their programming so that we can do the modifications on our own, at the very least they should allow Nismo to dip into it.
Even with an SC or Turbo about the maximum boost you can provide is no more than 5lbs, anything after that will fry the CVT.
me personally im partially doing it just to make the car run more efficiently im burning super rich and need to lean it out...plus you get valet and fuel economy mode on top of modded which sounds sick
Can you elaborate more on this please? what do you mean by Valet and economy mode?
good for someone who has an exhaust cutout and wants a different tune programmed for when they're driving with the cutout open, or closed
oh also you can take off or up your rev limiter or remove the top speed on the car if you want to take her to the track and see if you can blow up the VQ or CVT

Well damitman!!! I go away for a while and this thread blows up... LOL! Yes I feel for me the tune was worth it. If you walk in off the street to have this done, the price ranges from $685-$795. This depends on the shop somewhat, but for the shop I went to (Forged Performance- Marietta, GA.) it's the higher price. They are charging for up to 3-hours of dyno/tuning time as well as the license agreement for use of UpRev. This includes them downloading your ECU file and sending it off. It takes a couple of weeks to get the brick-file back from UpRev so they can hack into your computer. Since I won this tune in a raffle, I was only responsible for $300 license fee. Is 14-hp & 11-ft/lbs worth it? In my book yes! That gain is across the entire board! That means it is not a "peak" gain felt only @ 6,250rpms, rather from anywhere you mat it! As much "horsepower" that might have been gleaned from an intake, spacers, bop's, exhaust, etc, nothing made as much impact as this did. You can liken it to your nose being stopped up and now being able to breathe freely! As an opera singer wails higher when their nasal passages are clear, so does my Maxima now that it has been tuned. Would I have paid $795 for the time/tune? Probably not as my pockets are not that deep. However, $300..... All motherlovin' day long
the UpRev tune gives you different modes you can program your car in, usually you'll see 3 different modes people get setup but you can do 2 or 4 i think also. they program it for you (either mail-away UpRev electronic tuning, or an UpRev tuner at a pro/dyno shop) and you can have modded mode with leaned out a/f ratios and advanced ignition and timing, valet mode where u cant drive over 40mph or 2500 rpms or whatever, and fuel efficiency mode where im guessing you have the same leaned out a/f ratio just not advanced timing. you change modes punching your cruise control buttons in different combinations.

What would be the best setup in my case?

I'm really glad you cleared that up because some people only equate "power" with larger amounts as in what you'd get from a Turbo/SC or Nitrous but believe you had a great deal in only paying $300.
Truthfully speaking though; what UpRev provides for the total amount isn't worth it and if one was looking to make "power" for the amount they charge then they should just get a dry Nitrous set up.
At least you're trying to show us what's out there as far as aftermarket options to make a develop more power but i think this UpRev has a little more to offer with its' tune than just power.
How many of us would like to have our cars dynoed, be able to place into valet mode or economy mode?
I know I would.
Thanks Bro
hes getting low gains because the CVT doesnt lock into a gear so the gains would be mediocre @ best on a dyno, im just shocked none of you guys doing dyno/tunes are pulling the ABS relay because it actually helps.
put it this way 2008 VQ35 altima is what 270hp @ the crank i have a friend with SRI, Ypipe, and 3inch exhaust with uprev and puts down 295-298wheel hp so your telling me the tune doesnt liven up the car? and he told me the mid range rpm pull dramatically increased.

Even with the ABS disabled, the car will still not hold a gear. Honestly, I was not trying to get peak numbers... I was just trying to gain better performance, drivability, etc. I am VERY happy with the results!
im just happy u got it for 300$.. hopefully we could all be this lucky! thats a hell of a price for 14 HP and many functions as well as probably more MPG so i nthe long run u could be saving money.
Yeah, this is the best I could do. My scanner is not working this morning. As said before, the max numbers are not completely accurate. What is important is the entire gain accross the board.

I'm sure all the mods are working together to help, but none of the others "felt" as noticeable. I mean even my "quiet" exhaust screams now up top
