6th Gen Brake Caliper.. core?

I was planning to do 6th gen bbk for my 5.5 gen. I was wondering if anyone bought their caliper from either napa, or autozone, etc. and given back the 5.5 gen caliper as core and keeping the new 6th gen calipers?

I thought they only did a core swap of the same part? Not a different caliper. I could be wrong.

Well I don't have a 6th gen caliper to replace the actual core and thought that I can give them the 5.5 caliper as core, but the question is if they can tell it apart and accepting it or not.

Depends on where you get it from, I have put the wrong calipers back in core boxes before and generally they don't say anything at all. This is kinda shady but I did it a LONG time ago.

Yeah it is, I just don't want to pay full price. Each core worth about $50 and I can use that to buy new rotors and pads for the setup.

lol they dont know unless you have the core there while you're swapping out...if you dont care, just buy the part and take back the core after you're finish w/ the swap

I need to research this, because my AE needs brakes. I read that 6th gen brakes are a direct bolt-in, but I need to verify it. Would be a useful upgrade I expect.

I was at my local Autozone and asked to see if they had the 6th gen calipers. They did. I told her what I was doing (upgrading my 5.5 gen brakes) and she said I was not suppose to do that but that she would not say anything. Just waiting for my brakes to crap out before I do it.

From my research my only major hurdle is that my 01 AE 17's will not clear the 6th Gen brakes unless I put 10mm spacers on them. Apparently the 02-03 SE 17's will fit though. Anyone want to trade rims??
