Good time to change CVT fluid

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4z20ArBuEvFek1TTHNDbmhtSzg

So I guess ~45,000mi is about right to change fluid. I think mine was just about spent. I never did find out what the CVTF deterioration date stored in the ECM. Still waiting on Autoenginuity to update the program to include this. Will post up when I can get this information.

I think I'll be shooting for every 30,000mi from now on.

Trav

Yeah when I was at my Nissan dealer getting the rear sway bar bushing replaced I asked about the changing of the CVT Fluid (guy was a douche when I asked) he goes 30,000 miles its in your manual. I just kind of laughed and was like wow someone must be having a bad day already it was like 8am. I mean makes sense to question it being that the change at 30,000 miles is the premium service so whatever but thats what they said so once I hit it I will do it. Be a while had the car since Dec 2011 and only put like 4,000 on it. Thanks for all your info though helped out a lot

No problem. I only changed the fluid, so only 5 1/2 out pf 10 1/2 qts was changed. At $20/qt, theres NO WAY I will be flushing it. I avoid dealership like the plague anyhow.

But given this was 43000mi on original fluid and only half was replaced, I'm saying 30,000mi is probably a really good idea.

The FSM talks about relying on that CVTF deterioration date to tell you when to change fluid and I'm about ready to call that cuckipop. Even the maintenance calls for 60,000mi under the severe service schedule. Normal service schedule just states to inspect fluid....indefinitely. Going by that, in theory, it would be possible to never change the fluid. Someone at Nissan effed up on that, in my opinion. I'm thinking the premium service for the CVT should actually be the standard normal recommendation for change intervals. All of what Nissan says about the fluid change for CVT is so freakin sketchy.

Agree 100% Only reasoning going to this dealership now is bc it's where I got the car and the original seller of the car also first ur free oil changes and tire rotation te one closet to me like 10 mins most likely I'll start gOing there once I'm paying I'm going to c what they say.

HEY....maybe we are all guinnea pigs. Nissan wants to see how durable these little belts are before they bite the dust.

Wonder if manufacturers do stuff like that??

Hmm....oh well....just a stupid theory.

Nissan popped the pan while doing a valve body change at 15K on mine. The CVT wasn't flushed but the fluid was replaced.
May push it out a bit further on the flush now. Will continue to watch and listen to the real thrashers out there for potential issues.

I'd say 100K miles is a good point...unless you beat on it then i would say 60K.
