I am looking to rip out my old 2002 technology for something more up to date. I would like to be able to re-use the NAV screen door on top, but I doubt I will be able to. Would love to see what you all have done.

I have a double-din nav unit(cheap one from fleaBay), metra harness with the rca's, and a metra dash kit that're gonna be going in. I w-a-s gonna swap out the door speakers/rear deck "sub", but I'll leave those in for a while.

I also got the rear deck exposed to dynamat it and stuff the seat belt holders up top so they won't rattle.

Edit - Everything mentioned is in my bedroom closet. All I've actually done to replace it so far is exposing the rear deck

Got a link for you Double DIN unit? I was thinking of going single DIN with a clarion CZ702 since I have factory NAV. The factory NAV is such a waste, I use my iphone 99% of the time for GPS anyway. I'd consider a double din unit, but I would just have a wasted screen up top.

The DD head unit was a super-cheap one, I found one for $150-ish, free shipping. I think the link disappeared on my eBay buying list, but I'll try to dig it up.

Usually cheap electronics on eBay are a fail, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I'll update with specs and how it works in the I35 when it's put in.

Go double Din, get a good quality Kenwood or Pioneer...Read the reviews for problems. I have a sony 660bt which is good but has a bad ipod UI. The GPS is great, 3D and uses tomtom maps. It also stores the maps on a small console in the glove box. To update it I just unplug it and bring it inside to my laptop

You need very specific things, theres a thread on here with hundreds of replies that tells you everything you need to know. Get the PAC ROEMNIS2, it is worth the extra money, trust me

what kind of dash kit did you get for it ? were there any readily available? for a single din there is absolultely nothing that fits well with my nav equipped car.
