bose sound system
bose sound system
i got my wiring kit in the other day and i got it hooked up but for some reason i keep getting a popping sound when i change stations, also my headunit keeps turning on and off by itself. i was wondering has anyone had this problem with theirs??
I don't know what external factors could make a head unit turn on & off by itself. Maybe it doesn't have a good ground to it and that might be causing both the popping and turn on/off problems.
What brand/model headunit did you put in? Maybe you didn't wire the Metra adaptor correctly.

Here is a chart for wiring the sony headunit to a Metra adaptor and then plugging into a 1998 Nissan maxima originally equipped with a Bose. In this chart, The Metra wiring adaptor I used is not the same one you bought. I could not find the wiring chart for yours so I used another Metra, hoping it would be the same.
Code:
1998 Sony to Bose Radio Wiring
Metra Nissan Wire

The colors listed for the Nissan adaptor are for an after-market adaptor and are NOT the
color of the Nissan wiring harness.
The Bose Nissan wire harness uses 2 connectors for the radio; M109, a 10 pin connector
and M108, a 6 pin connector.
M109 contains wires numbered 1 through 10 and M108 has wires numbered 11 through 16.

Probably cheaper on ebay. Make sure you ground everything properly for the poping. I just installed a new HU about a month ago. I had the same problem you did. Its all good now. Good luck.
For low sound you need this

i have the wiring kit with the RCAs on it for the preamps already thou so i dont think i need that. plus its the bose in it and i wouldnt know how to get it hooked up right
just a general question since were talking about the bose system. I have a head unit from out of my 93 max and was gonna install it in my 95 max. the 95 has three plug ins plus the antenna connector. My aftermarket pioneer will only connect to two of the three plugs and the antenna thinggy. When i do plug the wires up, the cd player comes on, but there is no sound, Do I need to get a nissan wire connection? are they different years??
i am thinking about ordering 2 of these when i get the money. what do you all think?? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pre-Amp-RCA-...4d49ce&vxp=mtr and how hard is it to replace an antenna??

I replaced my antenna mast because it got snapped off. The motor was good so I just replaced the mast. $12 and not that hard at all. I took the entire motor and everything out to clean and lube it (which I could have not bothered with) and if I was replacing the entire antenna assembly, that's real easy.
This is the place I got my amtenna mast from. They have good directions on their website and I think you can call them for help, too. They have the whole assemblies as well as just masts. Here is the link:

The whole assembly is at the bottom of the page.
