I just bought this car and the place said that they replaced all the coils because one went bad then a few weeks later another one did so they just replaced them all and plugs too. I finally got around to checking and the front ones all say made in china on them. At least they put NGK plugs in it.

The car runs pretty good but at idle it will randomly drop about 50 rpms and stutter a little bit. But the thing is it has hardly any power, its low torque feels pretty good but looses it past 4500 rpms or so. I had 97 SE 5 speed before this and it pulled hard in 3rd gear past 90 and this one doesn't even compare. Its a 2000 SE 5 speed.

Its not giving any codes so i was just wondering if having 6 china made coils would make it have no power?

 

Yup. Aftermarket coils suck.

 

Geeeee, yes AMP and OEM parts both suck; most ****4brains (american) and zipperhead (asian) parts suck. Did you pull any numbers off the coils? the power problem is a very long list. Any codes? the power problem will typically emanate from the MAF but ...what else you got?

 

The number was like 101116 or something like that. I am dealing with the p0420 code and I am hoping its not plugged precats but if it is and I have to get a y pipe I won't be too disappointed. But it will have to wait till I have the $$.

 

nope you just got cheap coils. Exchange the bad ones and eventually you will get ones that dont throw a code but even then they wont last but a few years at best

 

Lack of Power makes me think knock sensor........
