Apex springs - Impressions, people?

For those of you who have experience w/ Apex lowering springs...

I'm looking for your impressions on:

1) the drop (1.6" f&r, right?)
2) handling
3) ride quality

If possible, compare your impressions of the Apexes to the B&G's or H&R's (if you have experience with either).

Please also specify automagic, or manual tranny.

Thanks in advance for your help!

P.S: Also, where did people buy their Apexes?

I have APEX springs. Yes the drop is 1.6 front and rear but the fronts seem to be slightly lower as you can see in the pic. maybe its becasue I have an auto? the ride is firm but not too harsh. I cant compare the harshness to other springs becasue I never rode in another car with different springs but comming from the stock GXE super soft suspension, its a big difference but its nothing too major to get used to. I have them with the KONI shocks also which I have on the softest in the rear and medium on the front. the rear is too soft so I need to stiffen that up some. I dont have any problems with them at all.

I believe B&G has the same drop 1.6 so they should be similar.

I only know if 2 other people on here that has APEX springs, Mechanic and 97GLES-who I purchased them from. They are alot harder to purchase becase they are imported from Holland I believe.

Thanks for the feedback, Nismo.

Q: When you say you "bought your Apexes from 97GLES," do you mean that he is an accessories dealer, or or that he was getting rid of them from his own car as a private-party sale? If the latter is the case, I'm just curious why he was getting rid of them.

"Mechanic?"
"97GLES?"

You guys out there? Care to weigh in on this? Anyone else?

Thanks.

Mechanic and 97GLES are other .org members. I can't answer the question about 97GLE being a retailer though, I don't know.

To those with Apex springs - are they progressive, and do you have any pics of the springs off the car?

I know that much - they are definitely a progressive-rate spring, otherwise, they wouldn't have made my "potentially worthy" list.

I got the part about Mechanic & 97GLES being other .org members. Did I seem foggy? Hmmm. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee today. . .

I've had the Apex's on since late April '01. I can't complain about them, nice little drop and combined with other products, the car sticks to the road.
As far as where to get them, go to the Apex website and locate a dealer/distributor near you.

yes, 97GLES owns a store. He also is the one that sells the HID kits here. They cost about the same as the H&R springs(notice I said H&R not B&G) I dont know how much the B&G cost.

well, heres is 97GLES(Freddie)'s store:

AUDIO LINKS 1-201-420-6792. I believe its in Jersey.

not shure if he still has them so pm or call him up.

i'm a eibach & apex dealer. what do i sell the most is apex. here is the way i see it:

stock
h&r's
apex
eibachs

the truth is that you should not drop a maxima more than 1.8" drop. any drop over 1.6" you will need camber kit (bolts about $30) and the car rides very hard.

if you want a soft ride than you should go with h&r's. it won't be as low as other springs but it will drive very nice.

if you want a lower drop and don't mind a little harder ride, than you should go with apex. they will out perform the h&r's.

the eibachs are just a bit higher than the apex (maybe .5" to .75" higher). but the eibachs are just a bit harder. this is the best if you want a sporty ride all the time.

it is very important on what shocks you will run with your springs. only use tokico with stock or h&r's springs. this will give you a very nice ride (h&r's/tokico).

if you go with apex or eibachs try to get the agx shocks( they are worth every penny). never use tokico with these 2 springs. they won't last.

this is my set-up:
apex springs with agx shocks(they are set at 1 in the front & 4 in the rear) with 18x8.5" ab-eintz wheels & 245/40 nitto's 555 all around and addco rsb and i also have a fsb. i have the slowest car on the org but it does stick like glue on the roads.

97GLES,

Thanks a ton for your insights - much appreciated. I ordered my AGX's a couple days ago - they're headed west on "the Brown truck."

Springs are the last decision. I've narrowed it down to the Apex's or B&G's at this point, mostly because I'm looking for that 1.6" drop. I plan to autocross/track my car at some point, so I don't mind the idea of a "sportier" spring.

Some have reported the B&G is actually softer than the H&R, (which is probably perfect for the street: smoother ride, better drop), but I think with that in mind, as well as your remarks & my own research, the Apex may be a more effective spring on the track.

My car is a daily driver too, of course, so I'm not looking for something quite as punishing as the Eibachs.

Cheers,
-Keith-

wow.. i've been away for a while! looks like most questions have been taken care of, but here's my input. Its effect coupled with the right shocks and the braces is just amazing. With these I have been able to take some turns at insane speeds (not something I'd recommend though) without too much roll. finally now I can at least hang on to those bimmers on the turns. These springs are basically tighter than the stock ones, and are lower by about 1.6". check out my homepage if u want to read more about them. btw i have an auto and my shocks are kyb gr-2's which are almost a stock replacement but are supposedly good upto a 1.5" drop... but so far i havent had any problems. not too smooth of a ride anymore but it doesnt matter

for those asking for a pic of my car, the only one i have can be seen at www.custommaxima.com under 4th gen pics 3rd page, Freddie's max.

it's not a full shot but it's a very nice pic. the pic was taken at LIBERTY STATE PARK IN JERSERY CITY and i think it was the biggest meet. it was a nice day, so the meet was so big that we had a BBQ and everyone took something to eat. i took 100 hot dogs and buns. i think 120 maximas showed up, that was a great meet.
