Exterior mirror tilt down problem
Exterior mirror tilt down problem
It's I'm having problems with the tilt down to reverse feature. When I reverse they don't move down. When I put the car in drive they try to move up and just give me a view of the sky. What's wrong?
What happens if you adjust your mirrors back down to normal while in D. Then, put your car in R for a moment, then back in D. Will your mirrors be pointing at the sky again, or return to the position you just changed it to?
I'm sure you know how to adjust the mirrors, but that's all I can think of to be messed up. Maybe give more details.

Lol. Ya. Just make sure that the switch that you use when adjusting the mirrors for the left side or the right side is not in the middle. As long as its to one side or the other they should both tilt down in R.
I tried it out, and I have it on my 2012 SV Sport.
I just never knew I had to move the switch over to one of the sides to activate the feature. Being (self-diagnosed) OCD, I left the switch in the center all the time until I read about it in this thread.

Do they click when going up? The mirror uses a resistive circuit to find the memory position. If the circuit "opens" because the circuit board is corroded, then it will always continue to move until it realizes that it can't find the position and then the motor times out. I wrote up a post on this a while ago when mine had a similar problem but looking down.

The motor sucks. Mine went out at about 30,000 miles.. Mirrors stopped tilting down when I reversed and the up down motor in the steering wheel went out. They just get used so much they wear out. Dealership fixed the steering wheel and if you put the mirror button in the middle they don't move down any more and i personally like it better that way

I have moved mine to the side for everyday driving. On the rare occasion where I am parking near a curb, I will move the selector to the side before moving the tranny to reverse in order to see the curb, because these wheels are expensive.
