O2 Simulators or Non-Foulers?

Hey guys,

I'm installing a Warpspeed Y Pipe on my 2000 SE and I've been told by different people that I need to also install nonfoulers or O2 sensors in order to prevent a permanent check engine light.

I can't get a unanimous response on which is better. Can I have some quick pros and cons? Possibly a cheap source which I can order from?

Thanks for the help!

Is your 2000 a FED SPEC or CALI SPEC?

If it's Cali spec you don't need anything, you just need to move the sensor farther ahead.

If it's Fed Spec I'd suggest a Non-Fouler like this:

Non-foulers can be bought from autozone. Search google for nonfouler to see how its done. Doing nonfoulers takes the electrical part out, and those sims aren't exactly high quality.

Wait a sec...if he's FED, his two front O2s are unchanged, and the rear is behind the main cat so it's also unchanged. Is the antifouler suggested simply for the main cat?

My max is indeed FED spec, so I'm unsure as well. Would that ebay nonfouler listed above fit and work properly? Because I'd order it right now.

I'm in Canada and I don't think we have Autozone around where I live. Maybe Canadian Tire?

I appreciate the replies guys!

From what I surmise, the idea behind the antifouler is that it acts as a spacer, and instead of the O2 sensor being placed smak in the middle of the pipe, it places the O2 more outward, so it still measures the exhaust gases, just not as much.

Nice F22 Raptor.....The fouler acts more as a shield than anything else....It's original job was to shield the spark plugs in oil burning engine from fouling keep the spark plug in it's own little compartment not directly exposed in the combustion chamber....
You'll need 18mm; I sent you this link so you can see what I was trying to describe..It shouldn't sniff as much ....It's worked for alot of folks.....I would try this cheap method first b4 I try finding an O2 sim.....

FED spec has both pre-cats built into the ypipe. changing to an aftermarket Ypipe deletes BOTH precats.

As far as the O2 placement on the FED spec model, I couldn't say. If there is an O2 sensor in between the Y pipe and the Main Cat, then you will need something for sure.

Right...the Fed has 2 sensors, but both are before the precats, and then one AFTER the main cat. The Cali has one before and after each precat. OP shouldn't need an anti-fouler, since the main cat remains untouched.
