Cannot say I have heard of it being done before but I would think the interface between the CCU and the transmission would be different because the 3.5 has drive by wire.

While not exactly what you want to do, my cousin installed a 00 GLE trans into his 02 SE. There was one revolution sensor in the 3.5 trans that the 3.0 trans did not have. He just plugged it in and zip tied it up. Everything is working fine.

Gosh Travis, I am confused.....

You say you are a "mechanic". You should know the answer to thr questions you ask, right????

So why are you asking a group of people in their thirtys down to teenagers what the best transmission is????

I think I know the answer. The young people on this forum are quite capable and helpful. I have been working on my own cars for forty years now. The information on this website is quite extensive. I am impressed.

God help your customers.......

I think the 3.5 4spd auto will fit but you'll need the wiring harness and sensor that I'm not sure are even the same connector wise......physically it should work....I say give it a shot one of these weekends!
