if you're in a warmer region of the country you can even go heavier weight

Napa might have it, but I'm not sure if they still carry it.
GL-5 has a sulfur additive in it that wrecks the hell out of synchros in older vehicles, i havent seen the Nissan spec for 3rd gen gear oil but i imagine its GL-4 (no sulfur additive). older stickshifts have brass in them, the sulfur additive in GL-5 eats them away. if you require GL-4 the bottle MUST says GL-4 only, not GL-4 and Gl-5 compatible. i know Amsoil and Redline still make GL-4 gear oil.
as for weight ive run Redline 75w-90 in every stick ive owned, worked fine in winter and summer

I've been running the Napa StaLube stuff in mine. Its not terribly cheap but you're not saving a whole ton of money buying Napa stuff vs Redline and the like so if you're looking for something that just works, Napa has what you need, if you want something higher quality, you won't be much further in the hole with Redline or Amsoil!
yeah Redline is only like 14 bucks a bottle, for as little as the trans needs might as well get the good stuff. when i ran Redline in my truck it fixed alot of the notchy gear issues
Well apparently the Napa in my town no longer is in business, the O'Reilly here doesn't have a gl 4 rating and I don't even want to try autozone since they really don't ever seem to know what I'm talking about unless they look it up on their computer. Looks like I'm gonna have to go the online route

I wish I did though because that was 7 years ago when the stuff was $13 a gallon.

already said in my previous post that GL-4 and GL-5 rated will still damage your synchros, has to be straight GL-4 rated. absolutely nothing else on the bottle. GL-5 will ruin your transmission
