Electric Motor disconnect

OK so I disconnected my front motor mounts for experimental purposes and I was wondering something..... How would the mount do if I connected a 12v switch to it to stiffen it up while driving. I like the being disconnected to save the ecu from a possible shortage, but I can feel movement in the engine. Thoughts?!?!?

You worry too much, just plug it in and be happy if you don't like stiff
BUT if you like stiff go get some polyurethane mounts

Its quiet possible that the mounts could be replaced but they are not noticeably worn. I dont want the Poly mounts thats too much stiffness. I was just looking to maintian the factory feel without the chance of the ecu shorting out on me. Maybe I am worrying too much.

If you want factory feel replace the trans and passenger mounts with urethane and leave the torque mounts alone

Get the Ebay ones. They are manuals and it's OK. Not too harsh.
You'll need longer bolts for the passenger and driver side, but it's direct bolt on.

My mounts will bolt right up with no pressing in or out, that will already be done for you in this case. There is also way less vibration than the ES torque mounts.

Yes, there will be added vibration with poly mounts. If that is definitely a concern, just go with a stock replacement for only the two engine mounts. Might as well replace them both while under there. May feel a slight vibration at idle, but only minor.

For anyone less concerned about vibration (as an automatic), then get manual engine mounts and one or both of Knights Wrayth mounts. I personally have the passenger side torque mount, the tranny was too much for me so I removed it. So I kept the tranny mount stock.

I'm going to give them a shot and see how it goes. I like a nice smooth idle and ride but we will see how it goes. If I don't like it I can always try and resell em. I will have my old ones just n case.

These are the actual brackets with bushings.
I recently changed mine and don't recommend poly.

Manual trans replacements are very stiff.

There is no added vibration if you put poly mounts on the upper mounts only. I have done the install on this on 3 cars without energy suspension torque mounts and you barely tell the difference. It is not the same thing as doing the torque mounts in poly.

Yes it is rough if you do all 4. But the side mounts are barely noticeable.

Since I am the only person who makes upper poly mounts please explain to me how you absolutely know for sure that my mounts will provide a harsh ride? I'm pretty sure you have not bought a set of them from me.

The manual mounts do not use a harder rubber. They are smaller if you are talking about the torque mounts. So they might seem harder. But the side mounts are the same size, and the manual mounts have much bigger gaps than the auto mounts

In this picture the manual mount is on the right. Tell me how it can possibly be harder than the one on the left. This is the passenger side upper mount from and auto and a 6mt.

The rubber is harder on the ebay mounts then the stock ones

As opposed to my fake aftermarket poly mounts? What the hell is that supposed to mean? Perhaps you should slow down and read it again. Both those mounts in the picture are stock oem mounts. One is an auto, one is from a 6mt.

So you are saying, you bought a new set of oem mounts and had them tested with a durometer, then bought an ebay set and tested them as well. Please give us the numbers, I would love to know the difference.

OK so I got the mounts installed today and WOWWA what a difference. The engine feels a lot set in its place. Feels like it's one with the car... Honestly I love the throttle response improvement from there being less movement in the engine and transmission.

1 thing I did do was bump my idle up 100 rpms. When it was in the upper 600s you could feel some vibration. Smoothed right out when it's idling in the upper 700s.

Prerequisite: Don't be a whiny *****

Step 1: Remove mounts

Step 2: Clean all rubber well

Step 3: Buy window weld or equivalent.

Step 4: Ooze that **** all over like the mount is Scarlett Johansson (you may have to do it a couple times to properly fill in the gaps and outside areas to keep it from running)

Step 5: Let dry for a day, then reinstall

It's cheap and very effective.
