I went through 3 of which the first replacement had bearing/noise issues. Swapped it out for another and it worked for 8 months and then the brake and battery light were intermittent but it passed charging tests..after that the outer aluminum casing broke off so I swapped it. Then I just didn't leave the third one on long enough so went back to Reman OEM.

Went through 4 in a 2 month period. Said **** autozone and went to napa. Now I only have to replace them every 6 months or so.

You know the sad part is, mine have only lasted a few hrs of running time, recently I have been swapping motors and drive the car around and take the motor back out and not use the alternator for awhile.

The longest lasting one I had was the Alternator I brought used from a Junkyard, about 5 months.

Salvage yards FTW - Got a $200 part for $5

Haven't had to replace the alternator in my Infiniti yet, though

For future clarity I edited the first post.

If the first alternator you purchased from Autozone worked, pick one.

If you have had one DOA and then they exchanged for another that's two!

Also, always have them check it out of the box, it's happened to me at least twice where they open the box and it tested out bad.

If their alternator testing is anything like their starter testing, don't waste your time having it done.

haven't taken apart the maxima alternator yet, but on most hondas and toyotas all you have to do is replace the brushes which you can buy for about $12 online and your alternator is charging better than ever... that is if you brushes are worn out... I did rebuild my Accord alternator for $12 and 50K later when I sold the car it was still charging like new...

I installed an autozone remanufactured alternator on a 97 two summers ago for a friend and it's still working.

I got the alternator installed for free in my 98 back in 2002 during the recall and it has held fine.

Why do you have a recalled item in your vehicle? Doesn't sound to smart especially when it's a free replacement from the dealer.

You're right items that are recalled are free.

i've had 2 or 3 of them, only problem i ever had was an install problem. can't remember what the issue was as it was like 10 years ago, but for some reason i was unable to install it because of a physical issue that prevented it.

I think most issues on here are the actual install of the alternator not the alternator itself plus grounding. I have one on my car and i have no issues with it. Guys check your grounds and dont make the alternator work overtime because of shat grounds.

The initial I purchased from them lasted two days. Exchanged it for another one that lasted about two years before the bearing failed on it. On my third one now in 4 years
