7th gen Max, plug R&R

I have 106k on the original NGK's. Started noticing a lil drop in power and some carbon residue on the exhaust tips about 3k ago. Bought new NGK's since the old ones lasted over 103k with no problems. Kinda wonnering what if any special tools I will need to replace the plugs b/c after the car is in a million pieces is a bad time to realize you have to go buy a special tool. Thanks!

I don't know about needing a special tool but most auto part store will let you rent a tool if ya need it.

Thanks for the heads-up about the tool rental thing, RH0214! Judging by the amount of people who have read the thread, and the lack of replies to it, I can only assume that there are a lot of people out there who have yet to replace their plugs, and were looking for info on the subject. Well, I have a football game to go to next weekend, but the next weekend, I will be doing the plug R&R. I will keep the forum current as far as any difficulties or lack there of, as well as any pointers that may be of service.

There are no special tools required to replace the plugs. Just keep track of what you remove and the fasteners. Basic tools will get the job done. Good Luck!

I replaced mine about a year ago...unless you have very small hands and wrists..plan on cussing and renting a 5 year old kid.

You may also wish to invest in a new intake manifold gasket. It took me about 6 hours to complete. See here for more http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...ark-plugs.html

Oooops, type

My bad. I typed 7th generation...it should have read, 6th generation. Anyhow, got the plenum gasket, and will proceed with the R&R tomorrow bright and early. Thanks for all of the tips!
