2k2 6spd Ignition problem

I am very surprise tonight when I had to held my key for 10 seconds to get my car started. The temperature is kind of low -- 23. But I only get less than 500miles on it.

I saw similar ignition problem at this forums for 2k, 2k1 models.

Is Nissan car such a junk? Tough on short term performance, rough on details and refinement?

Any suggestion would be appreciated?

thanks,

In cold weather and/or low pressure (high altitude) you might have to open the throttle a bit to get the engine to catch. This is in the manual for my Accord - the Maxima might have something similar as well for cold starting proceedures.

But I never had the ignition problem with my 93 Toyota Tercel in the same weather condition and same altitude. It started promptly, furthermore it already has 120k mile on it.

technically...

4 and 6 cyl cars are alittle different on how they fire.. A tech told me that cyl #1 must fire before the car will start... if it doesnt, it has to go all the way around again... and again... and again in some cases. yes, I agree, it sucks... especially as this engine is supposed to be a top 10 award winner

...and I never had any cold weather start problems on my old 90 Toyota Camry with 207,000 miles on it either - always fired right up

V6's seem to be a little clunky in starting up from what I've noticed compared to L-4's.

I'm impressed by how fast my Max starts. It fires right up and runs smooth. I always turn the key to the on position wait a couple of secs then start it. I do this in all cars just to give the fuel pump a chance to build preasure. I really like teh way this car fires off, it reminds me of my LS1 Firebird. My Accord V6 didn't like to start in the cold and would run very funny until it warmed up.

you are feeding it Premium gas too right? Not that it should make a huge difference but if you aren't feeding it premium, that could be your prob too.
