Exhaust question I swear I'm not a ricer

So right now I have a muffler delete on my 5.5 gen, I love it but it's too damn quiet. I don't want something obnoxiously loud, or anything that drones obnoxiously, but I want something that cracks and pops and gurgles like a banshee when I downshift. I'm looking for something highly economical, and something that I can have a shop do. I live in Ohio and I don't have the tools or know how to work on a 10 year old exhaust system. What do you all think?

A test pipe in place of your cat will make those pops and cracks

Definitely delete your resonator section with straight pipe. That will wake the neighbors, set off alarms, and dull any semblance of decent hearing you still have. Should gain a little HP as well given you will be eliminating those crimped in/out sections of pipe that's part of that section as well.

Fair warning, mind your local and state sound ordinance laws. But obviously you want this kind of attention.

The thing is, I really don't. Drone annoys the heck out of me. I want my car to be looud when I'm beating on it, which is most of the time, but I don't want to **** anybody off when I'm just driving in my neighborhood or cruising on the freeway. I'm thinking I'll start with a test pipe, and if that is too loud put an aftermarket muffler on. I'm sure putting the OEM one back on will ruin any of the good sounds with the test pipe. Resonator deletes sound OK on Maximas, but I want some refinement. I want the cracks and pops, but I don't want rasp or rice.

I'm assuming you don't have yearly inspections. So, you can get away with a test pipe. I still say replace you resonator section. If you're really looking for an aggressive sound/tone, then don't straight pipe the exhaust. Replace the resonator with a smaller magnaflow or glass pack. You can always get a cheap flow through muffler for the rear. Won't quiten the exhaust necessarily, but will tame abhorrent noise as well as look fairly nice - depending what tips you get.

Headers plus test pipe with straight through muffler is loud. It's the cats knocking it down. The stock resonator does well at taming rasp.

Thanks for the input guys. I actually do have an emissions check every other year, but it's a joke. I can go to a jiffy lube and get my OBD scanned and as long as there are no codes I get a pass lol.

That was when I had the 3.0 all it was is 2.5 pipe all the way back no cat resonator or muffler. Stock header and y pipe.
