All Bose CD Systems defective?
All Bose CD Systems defective?
I have a 2000 SE with the Bose CD. I have had the CD player replaced twice, under warranty , because the player actually scratches the playing suraface of my discs when it ejects them. Now, I mostly play store bought cd's, the amount of burned cd's that I play are minimal. I called Clarion and they told me I have to go through Nissan to get anything done. I have been to several car audio shops and most want me to replace the whole system( amp, speakers, all speakers and sub). The total cost on that for a good system is over two grand. Any suggestions? Has anyone swapped out just the CD player for aftermarket?
I apologize for the long thread.

Yeah after a week, CD-R's are somehow scratched when just left inside the player and I get high-pitched scratches. It plays my SUPER scratched CD's fine though. I think all of them are like this.

But the same CDRs play fine in my home stereo, cd walkmans, and dj players.

This is not what I am saying at all. I am asking you guys if your NON-CR-R cds,(store bought originals) scratch in your BOSE system. I am getting lots of scratches on those cd's when I play them on my system. The percentage of CR-R's that I play are only about 10%, if at all.

mine is fine with store bought...
I only use 74 min CDR in it. and I only burn about 70 mins. This is or my 2K max (4/99 build) and my pathfinder. Neither really like 80min CDs. Well, it was brand picky with 80's so I just went back to 74s. no problems. I use 80% cdr in there.

I even tried cleaned it with two different CD head cleaners. So I know it is the CDplayer now.

You seem to be the only one so far understanding my issue. I play VERY FEW CD-Rs. However, my CDs seem to be physically scratched, on the playing surface, after being played on my Stereo. My question is, is this happening to any of you? If so, what are you doing to address the issue? Can we repalce just the CD deck, without replacing the whole system? I really have no concern about CD-Rs. I have owned numerous cars with aftermarket CD players, never, ever had any kind of problem. Even owned some of the first decks back in the eighties.

I wasn't replying to you, I was replying to BigDogJonx. But no, my CD's play fine in the CD player, its just the scratchy sound with the CD-R's I'm having problems with.

Also forgot to mention how when I first play it, it very minimal, but once it the car warms up (along with the bose and the speakers), the cd player becomes a monster and plays them MAJOR scratchy. Like a really really bad Vinyl record. I mean I DJ records, but shiet, this is BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD.

Yeah, exactly, this is a defective player. Or "picky" one now. Cause it plays the original cds fine. Just the CDRs are the problem, now all CDRs, before it would not read certain ones. I now use the high quality TDK music only CDRs, and same shiet. Like I said the scratch sound got worse and worse and worse.
