CPS/POS Signal Specifications...

Does anybody have specifications for the CPS and POS signals?

I suspect amplitude and edge rates can be characterized, and a minimum pulse width might be associated with redline.

Thx,

Brad

You obviously have very little understanding of any automotive sense.
Go play with your toys kid.

FSM has some specs but it might not be what you need - check there.

May I ask what you're trying to do?

CPS POS is located on the bell housing and looks at the flywheel. There are 6 triggers, each one representing TDC for a cylinder. The reference voltage is 5 volts and it's a hall effect sensor.

So with that said, the signal should be a square wave about 3.8 volts amplitude with a frequency exactly 6x the RPM's of the engine.

This is simply my educated guess...

The Nissan FSM has a drawing of the waveforms at idle and at 2k rpm. Look up DTC code P0335 in section EC. It is page 244 in the 1998 FSM. The page number will be different for other year FSM.

I was debugging a starting problem that ended up being the starter switch. I had heard of sensors passing resistance tests but not performing to specs. If my debugging led me to either sensor, I was going to scope the signals.

I do not have an FSM...

As per njmaxseltd's comment, I didn't realize that the sense lines (and I would assume the ECU) were 5V logic. Those sensors likely have embedded amps in them, so something akin to 5V TTL or CMOS levels coming out of the sensor would seem appropriate.

Thank you for the help!
