Nissan Rubber mats or Weathertech??

I want to get slush mats for my 2013 SV, any experience with the Nissan rubber mats (part 999E1-MV000BK) or with the Weathertech rubber mats?

My wife has the Weathertech floor liners for her Flex, they are okay, but I hate how these look, the plastic edges go wavy, and the texturing makes it very hard to keep them clean, so my Maxima will get rubber protection

Thanks in advance for any input!

The rubber Nissan mats do a good job.
It might just be me but the only thing I don't like is that they tend to get pushed forward so much so that the mat is pulling the plastic retainer out of the carpet (floor). I don't know but I would think that the Weathertech's wouldn't move as much due to the way they are molded?

Praise The Lord I hate when that happens almost always annoying. Love the Nissan one and it's wayyyyyyyy cheaper that weather tech.

The Weathertech ones are way better in that they stay put, cover a larger area, and do a better job of protecting the carpet. But as someone has mentioned the Nissan one's are cheaper, however you would expect to pay more for a better quality product. Make sure you check them both out before you buy. If slushy, dirty conditions are prominent in your area during the winter then nothing is going to beat Weathertech for functionality.

FWIW, a set of the Nissan mats (4pc) is $ 121.20 CAD and the Weathertech rubber mats are $ 128 CAD. So us Canucks are being hosed...but aside from that you can see the price difference is not anything to sway the decision.

I might try to get a set at a Nissan dealer while I'm in NY State this weekend.

I've had both

I may be one of the few people that have had several kinds of mats in a Maxima- Nissan all weather Weather tech digital fit floor liners, and Weather tech "all weather" (not digital fit) mats.

Nissan mats
Had these from May 2009 to Christmas 2013. The driver's side was completely wrecked, though.
The good: They fit well and look good. They are comfortable under foot. Comes is sets of 4 - front and rear. Holds slush and sand well, doesn't slosh around the mat. I liked them because I often take my right shoe off when I drive, and the ridges hold water away from my foot.

The bad: There is no protection on the sides, and they don't cover the left foot rest. The rubber ridges are hollow, not solid rubber. That means they will eventually wear out and create holes, letting the sand / slush through. My heel also wore a hole in the mat faster than I expected. Comes only in sets of 4 - can't buy a single replacement. A bit hard to clean - can't be easily wiped off.

Weather Tech digital fit floor liner
Had since Christmas 2013
The Good: Fits perfectly. Locks in place. Protection on the carpet sides. Covers most of the left foot rest. Cleans up nicely with a vacuum and damp rag. Depressions hold slush. More comfortable underfoot than I initially expected.

The bad: Kind of pricey. Has an initial plasticy feel - not as "soft" as the Nissan mat. I've gotten used to it though. Doesn't lock and hold slush and sand as well as the Nissan mats because of the more flat design.

Weather tech "all weather"
Sent back.
The good: Heavy, tough rubber material. Lots of ridges to catch slush / sand.
The bad: The fit. It was TERRIBLE. They are "generic" mats, not made for a specific car. You have to cut to fit. Coverage was poor, didn't fit well at all. IICR, the lock hole was in the wrong place. Did I mention the fit was really terrible?

Overall, I would buy the Weathertech digital fit again. The Nissan mats feel a little more posh, but Weather tech has better protection, cleans easier, and I think will last longer.

Wow! this is exactly what I needed to read, this post and those of others have given me the info I needed to order the WeatherTech rubber mat set. FWIW, the WT site shows actual photos of a 7th Gen Maxima with these rubber mats installed. If they are not 100% exactly as shown on their website, back they'll go!

Thanks again Maxima Org!

I have a full set of the Nissan Winter Mats that my dealer gave me that I was using as trunk protection in my new car before my Weather tech trunk mat arrived.

They are dark rubber with grooves to hold the ice/snow/mud and have Maxima imprinted on them.

I would just give them to somebody but they do have some weight to them and the box would be bulky so it might cost a few bucks to ship so I'm not sure if it's even worth it as I have no idea what they cost at the dealer

FWIW the mats worked fine when I used them in my Max.

+1--- I hate hate hate these crappy nissan mats. They ALWAYS ride up towards the pedal every time I get in the car. I swear I am fixing them every single time I get in the car!

Anyways, I have had my eye on the WeatherTech DigitalFit for a while now, and will probably get the front ones for now, end eventually get the back ones in time!

Do your Nissan mats have the hole in them where the clip from the carpeting inserts ?

Yes, they do have the hole, but unfortunately the clip that it connects to has pulled out some and tilts forward allowing the mats to still run up towards the pedal. Very annoying.

I really just wish those WeatherTech DigitalFit mats were more affordable. $120 for some mats seem crazy, and thats just the front mats.

As you can guess I keep a keen eye on ebay to see if anyone ever offers them cheaper. $75 and I'm sold. But that extra $50, I refuse!!!
