Roof Spoiler Install Qs

At the risk of coming across as a total moron, I've messed around with this thing and I gotta ask ...

I got my roof spoiler back from paint the other day. I played around with test fitting it sans the adhesive tape and came to the conclusion that based on the fact that I am definitelynot Stretch Armstrong, how the hell am I gonna get this thing mounted straight?

I get that I have to apply adhesive promoter and automotive sticky tape, that's not the issue. However, as far as getting it lined up straight and even when only being able to work one side of the car at a time, is there a trick I'm missing?
