Nissan Factory Spark Plug?

Hi all,

I have a 2009 SV premium and I am looking to change out my spark plugs, clean air filter and etc.. for spring cleaning and maintenance. I just want to know what the Factory Spark Plugs are for the 2009 Nissan Maxima SV are?
I read the instructions on the Nico site and they list :
Denso FXE22HR11
but I also did a search on this site and have seen numerous NGK spark plug references.
So if anyone has actually taken out there spark plugs to replace them, what are they? and can the factory use more than one brand?

Thanx for all your help on this.

Denso FXE22HR11 Iridium Long Life Spark Plug is the o.e. plug. I would stick with that plug. If you are doing the work yourself, don't forget you anti-seize and dielectric grease.

The Nissan Part number is 22401-ew61c. But yes they are indeed DENSO FXE22HR11 Iridiums. I think I paid around $20 per when I did mine a few years ago.

Re the other part numbers...I would stick to the iridiums. Back when I did mine, no other part numbers even existed!! But you may want to try them out. As replacing these takes a few hours, go for the quality..it is not something you would want to do every few months!

Don't forget to hire a small child to remove and reconnect the hoses next to the firewall!!

Isn't that like 40k miles? You don't need to swap plugs till 100k miles. And my personal experience is even at 100k miles they still look fine.

With the manifold off it would be a good time to install the phenolic spacers!

Geez I was not aware that you HAD TO take the intake manifold off. WTF, I hate that ****, but oh well, guess i'll be learning more about then engine than I wanted to, lol. probably be a good idea to replace the gasket then!

Did you also end up picking up a new gasket after you take the intake manifold off or are you going to keep using the factory one?

I'll be replacing mine in the next couple weeks since I just reached 108k miles.

I'm at 118k miles and don't see any reason why they might need replacing. Engine seems to run fine. Am I ok with leaving them in?

I re-used mine the first time and replaced it the second. It looked factory fresh both times but that o-ring type material can and does weaken over time.

I'm planning on using the factory gasket, I also purchased the Phenolic spacers and block off plates which I will be doing at the same time! Might as well since I got it all off anyway!

I’m also about to do the spark plugs on my 09 Altima. I did a little homework. and figured out that the intake manifold from a 2017 and above flows better and should bolt right up to the existing lower manifold I also then got a salvaged throttle body from a 2014 maxima that 75 mm versus my Altima 70 mm. I haven’t done the job yet, but I’m hoping that it comes out nicely giving me a few more ponies to keep up with those two doors 😎

my next question was which spark plug is to go with? Definitely iridium it sounds like Denso or NGK? Also, what is under the manifold that should be replaced just for good maintenance? PVC valve etc.???
