Donut, but when I was looking the car over before I bought it, the salesman tried to correct me by saying it's not a donut, but a full size 'mini' tire or something like that - basically he was defensive and said it was larger than a donut, but not as large as the wheels on the car.

Yeah, whatever....

me too. i'd rather have a rinky dink anyway. a full size would weigh too much, though it would be nice to have both and keep the full size in the garage.

Howd you get a full size spare to fit back there and not have the trunk floor panel raise up like 1.5"?

I do have a full size one. The floor panel is raised about 1/2 inch, not more than that. Unless you want to play pool in the trunk, I dont see why it should be a problem.

Good for you! The "performance" package is something I never heard about before. In Canada, when I bought mine, we had what they called the "convenience" package, that's all...

But I do know that if I would have bought that car 2 weeks earlier, I would have got the alloy rim. Two years later, I still remember my feeling when I discovered that...

You're correct, it's the "convenience" package (performance refers to what the salesperson used to call the package.

Sorry for misleading you....

What part of Canada? Maybe they forgot to put it in your car, or the forgot to take it from mine?

Anyway, I've just went checking in my driveway and it's a full size alloy rim... hey!!!

hmmm, i got a 2k1 gxe with c&c package, but i got a damn donut, why the heck did you get a full size? according to nissans site(when they had the info on the 2k1), none of the max's came with a full size, can someone clarify this?

I'm from the "great white north". Maybe the convenience package is differently interpreted down in the US. Also, I bought my 2k1 few weeks before the 2k2 arrived at the dealer. And since I was ready to buy it, and I showed so much interest, I think the salesperson went an extra mile just to be sure that I would become his customer (I was ready to but from another dealer)... I played tough, and I won a lot!!!

I have a '99 (ok so its not a 2k+) but it does have a full size GLE rim with tire in the trunk. I thought all Maximas came with a full size spare?

I see that all the full size spares came in Canadian Maxes. The US is the only market in the world that will tolerate donuts. Years ago it was an inertia weight issue for smog certification. Now it's a cost saver for the manufacturer. Any shell designed for other markets will fitt a full size spare so at least we can add one. BTW, the floor doesnt stick up with a stock 16" mag if you peel the foam spacers off the back of the cover.

I think that those of us who have 16" steel or alloy rims have a full size spare and the others that have 17" are stuck with those "donut" spare (me included).

I did trade leather seats for a full size spare (16") with alloy rim

Oh, BTW, instead of peeling the foam off the cover, what do you think about adding foam everywere else?

I think my donut is 125/16/70

I could be wrong but I'm almost sure it was 125. How much do these donuts weigh?
