Yes, it definitely lights up. Aside from buying a new $witch you can remove the old one and replace the bulb w/ one from Radioshack. DO a search for more info., it's pretty easy, but the switch is three parts and has a spring in it. So it's a little tricky to put back together. I think the Radioshack part # is 272-1092. You'll find out for sure from a previous thread. Good luck.

When I finally got my dash back together last friday (It had been in a state of untogetherness for at least a week) I noticed that my blinkers weren't working. While I had the car apart, I had found out that if the hazard light switch isn't connected, the blinkers won't work at all, since everything goes through that switch. So I looked at the hazard switch, noticed it wasn't lit up and when I tapped it, the light came back on and the blinkers started working. I tapped i tagain and the light went off, tapped it again and it went on...

I'm assuming the people that have a burnt out bulb can still use their blinkers, so I guess I have a loose connection somewhere in the switch.

You have a burned out bulb behind it. I have the opposite situation...my defogger switch doesn't light up (the illumination is out, but not the little orange light) but my hazard switch lights up.

One of these days I'll get around to replacing that bulb.

My hazard AND defogger switch do not light up at night, and I do know they used to. I took apart my defogger switch to find the LEDs to replace. I found 'em. Man was it hard! My big hands DO NOT like working with these small things. Sheesh. Turns out the LED is not user replaceable, i.e. the LED is soldered into the mini-sized circuit board. You can un-solder it and replace it with the equivalent Radio Shack LED piece. I just left it alone. Besides, it doesn't look bad at all at night.

Now, my climate control was a different story. That had some blown bulbs and looked terrible at night. I replaced those

I have 2 hazard buttons for sale if anyone wants one...

I had the same problem with my rear defrost button so I purchased a new one along with 2 used hazard buttons from a local junkyard just in case mine happened to burn out. If interested, both are illuminate and are full functional. I'm pretty sure I can let them go for cheap since the dealer prices them for about $27.

My Hazard bulb just went out

Where I could find the instruction to find out how to replace it? Do I need to take the dash apart?

And another thing...can I just buy a led and plug it in, or do I need to buy a switch?

Re: Re: My Hazard bulb just went out

Thanks, SuDZ!

I am in San Diego right now and my Haynes and car are in Milwaukee. I will check on that after I get back. I did some search, and seems to me that people have been taking out that button and do things with the switch.....

My hazzard wasnt working along with my cruise control. gave 'em bot a few taps and they came back on! Been on for a few days now.......

I also have a bulb out in my ACC, the one on the top left for the auto and hot temp buttons....tried to tap that one.......no good

Is the instrument light dimmer switch supposed to light up as well (right side of steering column)?
