Front Sway Bar Removal/Replacement

I'm fairly certain I recall a how-to thread with pictures which discussed this, but I am having trouble finding it and wanted to review it.

Most of the search results I've come across so far pertain to the sway bar end links, ES sway bar bushings or RSB.

I imagine the job may be similar to removing the power steering rack (drop y-pipe, remove cross member & front/rear motor mounts).

The reason I am looking for this is there are some isolated rust issues with my sway bar that are causing incorrect bushing fitment/reduced life. This could be solved with a junkyard replacement depending on the scope of the project.

I dont recall dropping the crossmember or ypipe before removing the sway bar when I did my steering rack(i did later however, to do the rest of the steering rack job). I just twisted and pulled the sway bar around til it came out; Although it would be easier to do so first.

Hmm, interesting. Well if careful twisting and pulling is an option, I may try and develop a removal method in the junkyard next time I go.

Thanks for the feedback PowerTotheMax

The swaybar might be removeable after the rack and pinion is removed...you won't get it out with the rack and pinion installed!
