Engine Knocking after Oil Change?

I'm hoping you guys can help me with this unnerving situation. I took in my 2010 Maxima yesterday to get an oil & filter change - fully synthetic, 5w30.

However, earlier today, I noticed a light knocking noise while at idle. You can't hear it when accelerating but it's definitely audible when idle. I got out of my car and the noise is very audible.

Here is someone else's YouTube video. It sounds a lot like this. Perhaps I will try to record my own tomorrow in daylight. Meanwhile, would you guys be able to provide insight as to what's happening?

Someone else's video but mine sounds nearly identical: http://youtu.be/2V8-4aq8Htk

Try to a little Marvel Mystery oil , just a little , example a table spoon or two.. Run it for a few days without beating on it then do another oil change .. I guarentee it will go away ... I will loosing up everything and clean out the engine .. My uncle taught me that trick years ago .. He was head mechanic for GM for 20 yrs .. On real old engines we added diesel to the oil then did an oil change .. It will clean out all crap out of it .. Every time I do an oil change I add a table spoon of Marvel Mystery oil .. All my cars that I owend in the past reached well over 120k miles with no engine problems ... Of course I did tune ups but oil was always clean when I pulled out the dip stick

My knocking or puttering noise sounds HORRIBLE. It is a very apparent noise when crawling on the ground listening to it. Since I had an oil change two afternoons ago, I wonder if I have a different issue altogether. I genuinely hope I have a completely different issue.

Video #1 (from underneath the car): http://youtu.be/sxkfHPH8GaI
Here is what mine sounded like after driving around for about 15-20 minutes. Again, it is very obvious and very loud - something is not right.

Video #2 (from inside the cabin and then onto the front of the car: http://youtu.be/szWPo4YP8aQ
Here is the noise from when I am sitting in the car. It is only audible when at idle/park. I can't hear it while the vehicle is actually moving, and it could be that I haven't noticed this noise until now because I usually have the Radio and/or HVAC on. Take note that the noise sounds worse at Park vs. Reverse vs. Drive.

Video #3 (noise is NOT present at cold startup): http://youtu.be/szWPo4YP8aQ
Last but not least, here is a video from the car right at cold startup.

After listening/watching your two videos I see what you mean. Your car sounds like a freakin turbo diesel truck. I'd suggest going to the dealer to have a professional look at it. Good luck, guy!

Congrats - welcome to the club! My 2010 Maxima with 120,000mi on it has the same knock - and has had the same knock since new.

Doubt it just happened after an oil change. Chances are very good that you just never noticed it until just recently. I can definitely vouch that some days I hear my knockety knock and think "holy crap - this motor is getting ready to blow apart" and other days, I can barely hear it. I have no explanation for this. It's twitchy, for sure.

Late,
Trav

The G20's and Altima's had poor oil circulation to the cams ... Many engines blew because of it .. The problem with nissan it had rails that would spray oil to the cams and the problem with it that the little holes would be clogged up due to dirty oil,, you need to do more frequent oil change .. In your case i would change just the oil filter to a better one and add a little bit of Marvel Mystery oil .. The oil does miracles.. If knocking persist bring it to a pro and have them check oil pressure .. Oil pumps are none to fail on nissan cars ..
