vibration under load after cv axle replacement
So I went ahead and replaced both cv axles today and went for a test drive and now I get vibration from my car while driving? what gives?
If you bought aftermarket, depending on brand, im betting you bought Chinese parts that arent the same as OEM. Same thing happened to me...I ended up having the OEM ones rebuilt and the vibration was instantly gone upon re installing them. What brand did you buy because sometimes only OEM will work.

This is true. I bought a chinese brand called: ToughOne from advance auto parts. I compared both cv axles to my old ones and nothing obviously different but didnt see any tyype of vibration dampeners on any of the axles, old or new? I cant say if my old ones are in fact OEM or aftermarket as well?
The aftermarket axles are your issue. I promise you, after I had mine rebuilt, it was like a new car. Sent the ones I bought from Rock Auto back for a refund. They were great about the refund. Alot of places sell the inferior knock off brands.
None bro, a rebuild takes only a few hours if even that at your local ma & pa shop. Literally....trying to buy new ones is a waste of money. The OEM ones are tough...when parts wear out they are easily rebuilt. Cost me $20.00 for a local axle shop to repair mine.
While there is this possibility, it is the lesser of the evil imho. Fyi OEM axles from the dealership are roughly $500.00 each. However all I can do is share best practices/experiences. Feel free to go your own route.

So I had the axles rebuilt and reinstalled them back into my car. Vibration is gone but now it seems that I might have either a bad bearing on the wheel hub or the pass. side axle but i'll have to rotate tires first to rule them out. Gotta love 20+ year old cars!!!
I know you already fixed it, but yeah, a few times I've replaced one to have a vibration. Just have to do the work twice :-/
The OEM ones are much higher quality, that said a lot of the parts counter ones are getting better. But yeah after a few go arounds I'd rather rebuild oem than deal with aftermarket. The bummer is aftermarket draws you in with the lifetime warranty and price and they tend to make the job cleaner/easier, Esp. if you burn through boots.

I had a vibration under load way back in the day on a cheapo axle I bought from Internetautomart. It drove me crazy
However, other than that I've used aftermarket ones on almost all of my other cars with zero issue. On my VE's I prefer rebuilds, but actually right now on both of my VE's I have aftermarket units and zero issues. Parts store lifetime warranties are very handy.
Another thing I've noticed is that the boots generally aren't any higher quality on rebuilds than the aftermarket units. And since it's always the boots wearing out first you're then stuck basically messing with the axles again one way or another with the same frequency whether you go rebuild vs aftermarket.

I am experiencing this same problem, driver side axle, and with the same brand (ToughOne from Advance)
Has anyone thought of having the aftermarket axles balanced to solve the vibration issue?

I've always gone the route of trading them back in on warranty on that route, but that's actually not a half bad idea, and until recently, i thought custom driveshaft work would be much more expensive than it actually is.
