Maybe coming back to the Nissan camp after a year with my Honda

Hi folks. My first car was a 94 SE 5spd and after that was destroyed by a drunk truck driver I bought my current car (see sig.). I love it to death but my insurance is outrageous and the lack of room is in PIA. I'm looking at the 2K2 Max SE 6spds and maybe the new V6 5spd Altimas. Does anybody know where the best deal in the COUNTRY is or can anyone hook me up with a salesman that will give the THE best deal out there. Finally, anyone wanna buy a hella-fast Prelude?

LOL - we're opposite.

Your Maxima got smashed and you jumped ship to Honda. My Accord got smashed and I might be jumping ship to Nissan

BTW, nice times with the Lude

Yeah, kinda switched up. I'm still looking at the CL-S/TL-S, though so I may stick with Honda. I just need a bigger car.

By that posts, it looks like you think that looking at the TL-S/CL-S is a bad thing

I was speaking as a Maxima groupie and not as a Honda owner

The Maxima and the CL-S/TL-S are arch-enemies. If you buy a TL-S/CL-S then you're slapping Maxima owners in the face

But seriously though, the CL-S/TL-S are both very nice cars too. Whatever floats your boat

I haven't had a chance to drive either one so that'll be my deciding factor. I can use the fact that their arch rivals against hte dealer. "Hmmm.....I can get a better deal on a (TL-S/Maxima) so I may just look at that one instead".

I gave up on Hondas after all 3 I've ever owned got totalled. Two of them by drunks, and none of them my fault. They are bad luck.

TLS is nYce but maxima is the way to go!! Just goto any dealer and haggle.....their prices arent placed in gold...you can probably run off with a nice maxima for 3 or 4K less than MSRP

Well, the Type S is nice, but the Maxima is faster.

I prefer the Maxima since it has 4 doors, and the TL doesn't come in a 6 speed.

Maybe after my 4th gen spanks his Prelude he'll want a new Maxima.

This is my opinion. TLS and Maxima are both nice cars. There are pros and cons to both. The TLS has more 'status' vs the Maxima, kinda like comparing Tommy Pullmyfinger to Ralph Lauren. Personally I will take Ralph everytime over Tommy :-)

Go test drive both and see what you like better. Take into consideration the poor Nissan service and the slightly better acura service. Ask members in the 5g forum how hard it was to get WARRANTY work done on their car...

Maybe it's just the local dealer, but I've gotten great service at the Nissan dealer - no problems with warranty (ECU reprogram) or regular maintenance.

Granted, it wasn't as good as the Infiniti dealer next door to the Nissan shop. Acura service typically won't give you a loaner for regular maintenance, which Infiniti does - and I hear Lexus service is even better then Infiniti.

However....the reason I drive Nissans and Hondas is to avoid the dealer service bay - We've leased/bought 2 Hondas and 6 Nissans over the past 10 years, with only 3 unscheduled visits for warranty work - (2 Nissan, one Honda). I had that many visits in the first month on my last Ford.

Well, if that happens...... If I recall, you were the one getting spanked...pretty hard . Ofcourse, Sunday begins our battle anew and you now have some more artilery.

And you WILL be needing that warranty after your tranny fails for the second and third time in your tl/cl-s.

Wait for the G35. It will be around the same price as the TLS/CLS and should be faster than the Max and TLS/CLS. The interior is just as big as the Acuras

If I were you I'd hold-off.

1--Prelude is a nice car
2--Your car is a 2001, how can you justify replacing it so soon?
3--Your handling with the Prelude is excellent. I doubt you'd be too satisfied with the Max in the handling dept.

Anyway, get yourself a NY Post and you'll see low prices. If you have an afternoon to waste you can buy a new car cheap.

I did, and it just dynoed 16 h.p. higher at the wheels at 5,500 rpms for my best gain. I still don't think that will make up the difference though, I need an intake and exhaust now. They should be done next week.

My clutch is becoming a bit questionable, but I should be able to get a few runs before it slips too bad, I hope.

I was surprised to see that the torque peaks after the h.p. peaks! These are some torquey motors!
