ebay cat-back with oem muffler?
ebay cat-back with oem muffler?
So my midpipe, the thing with the resonator that goes between the cat and the muffler, has holes. I have found several complaints that the bosal/walker resonator pipes don't last very long. I like the looks of the ebay stainless steel catback for $140.

However, I have no desire to have the look or sound of the muffler that comes with it. Does anyone know if the oem muffler would bolt up to the midpipe from this ebay system?

Cmax-
that is pretty much my intention. What I am not sure about, and I can't find anyone else who has done it, is whether a different (oem) muffler assembly would just bolt up, or whether cutting and welding would be necessary (which would mean paying someone else vs doing it all myself).
It seems to me that if a company is selling an entire catback system that they might not necessarily design it so that you can bolt in someone else’s muffler- the flange might be located a few inches farther up or downstream, for example, or the pipe might have a slightly different bend to it at the mounting point.
In any case, the stainless mandrel bent ebay catback system is only about $20 more than the the non-stainless non-mandrel bent walker/bosal b-pipe, so I am inclined to take the chance and see what happens!
