I'm pulling off the intake manifold for the 4th time over the life of my 91 to replace injectors and I have never been able to figure out the proper order of the fuel rail screw washers and spacers. I didn't record the order 10+ years ago when I replaced injectors the first time and I've probably been inconsistent in the order over subsequent repairs. Yes, I know you don't need to remove the fuel rail, but each time I've needed to for various other reasons or to dislodge a stuck injector.

My current guess from top to bottom is screwcap, lock washer, flat washer, spacer, fuel rail, spacer, flat washer, and then engine block. Also, one of the spacer fell into a black hole and I've used 2-3 flat washers with the same height as a replacement; any harm in this?

 

The teflon type spacer is between engine and fuel rail. In other words, the rail tightens onto it - that's how I remember it.

 

use the plastic spacers...they are suppose to compress a little when you tighten them down. this will ensure you have the proper seal on the injectors.

 

Looks like the FSM EM-6 has it screwcap, lock washer, flat washer, spacer, fuel rail, flat washer, spacer and engine block. The FSM didn't have the torque specs for the fuel rail bolt, but it seems other posts on this site reference 2'lbs, which makes sense with the plastic spacers—I've cracked a few of them in the past thinking I needed to use typical torque given the size of the bolt.
