Stealing Cars with Tow Trucks...

I dunno how true this is, but it makes sense. When I picked up my 96 SE the end of last year, the guy at the dealer was trying to sell me on LoJack (they were having some end-of-year discounts, so it was pretty inexpensive). Everyone knows LoJack is backed by the police. He was saying that according to law enforement, the new way people steal cars (i'm assuming people that are int eh business of stealing cars) is that they'll go to a mall or someplace where you'll most likely be inside for a while, and after you leave you're car they'll tow it away with a to truck (doesn't look particularly suspicios). They bring the car to a holding place of sorts and leave it. If the car is still there 24 hours later, it doesn't have LoJack so they take it and do what they want with it. If it has LoJack, it'd have already been picked up by the police by the time 24 hours have passed.

If that's the case, there's not much any alarm is gonna do.

btw, I didn't ge the LoJack

LoJack is pretty useless unless you report your car stolen within an hour or so.

My friend had a LoJack in his Integra. Woke up next morning, car was gone. LoJack couldn't find his car.

Let's say you go to sleep at 10. Thieves come and take your car at 3 in the morning. You wake up at 7 to go to work. That's 4 hours to go anywhere and take your car apart.

Lojack..only works AFTER your car is gone...1st thing is prevent the theft to begin with.

in 2 hrs your car is pretty much gutted.

there is also another way to defeat that too.

Exactly why LoJack doesn't work.

Maybe thats why the police sponcer it. By the time you notice it is too late for them to do anything anyway so they can just relax. Makes things easier on them.

A portable engine, yes. Then they'll take the rest and sell it to some body shop.

lower your car so low, that they can't get a tow truck underneath...

say airbags for example.....turn your car off....have it lay frame......and voila!
