ATTN: All posting members & DIY mechanics
Morning Guys:
I've been cruising around on the .org for a while now, and haven't really said much of anything (as a matter of fact this is probably my third or fourth post ever). There are just a few things I need to say before I continue my relationship with this group of people.
First and foremost....THANK YOU!! In 1996 I bought my first Maxima. A red 1990 SE. It wasn't much, but I loved it. About a year and a half ago I bought my second Max. A Dark Green 1996 GLE with the "cold weather package" When I first got my car I took it to the mechanic for EVERY little thing that would go wrong. I have babied this car since day one, and am ridiculed by most of my friends for being "obsessed" with it. Well, they are probably right, but I love my Max....walking away from it in a parking lot and having to look back at it and smile. From checking this board three or four times a week I have learned an immense amount about my car. When I bought the car I couldn't even change my own oil. Thanks to the members of this board last weekend I changed my oil, cleaned my throttle body, replaced my spark plugs, and changed out my front O2 sensors. Minor costmetic changes, like diamond corners, and shaved emblems are also included. Mind you, that's not much, but it is a lot more than I could do before. This brings me to my second point....
I have been sitting back learning all this without posting. If I can learn to do all of these things without posting so can you. I think the most common mistake on this board is the asking of questions without a THOROUGH search first. Sometimes you have to search using different prefixes, suffixes, and abbreviations to find what you're looking for, but believe me, more often than not what you are looking for is already there.
This is not meant to be a lecture about posting too often. My intention here is to thank all of the contributing members of this board for their help and support. Prior to this post I didn't want to give any misinformation to any members, but after completing some of the more common tasks I look forward to becoming a more active member in the .org. Thanks again!
Kyle

Some of the veteran posters here should take note of the above.

jeez ..
FYI to your link..
The server is currently busy. This means that too many users are currently accessing the system at the same time.
The Maxima.org servers have been set to limit the number of users accessing the system when the load is too great in order to keep from overloading the system and crashing the server. While this may seem inconvenient, this will keep the server from completely shutting down and not allowing any access to the system.
Typically the server will clear up in a few minutes. Please try again

"well - repacking bearings is usually applied more to jeeps and trucks rather than cars, but if you're worried about it........ * Remove the axle shaft, you may need to take apart the brakes to do this.
* Grind off the rust and crud off a small section on top of the axle tube between the bearing race and inner axle seal.
* Make measurements to determine where a zerk can be installed and use a center punch to mark the spot.
* Drill a 7/32" hole for 1/4-28 zerk fitting.
* Tap the hole with a 1/4-28 tap.
* Screw in the zerk.
* Replace axle shaft and brakes.
If you have the store do it it will prolly cost about 300 bucks"
