How do you remove passanger side airbag?

How do you remove passanger side airbag?

I Got the driver side airbag out. but cant get the side ones out. anybody ever removed them before? i took the glove box out and removed 2 torx screws that gies on to the steering rack. looks like but the thing wont budge.

There are two bolts and nuts on each side of the unit that need to be LOOSENED before the unit can be removed.

IIRC there is a channel that the bolts slide into during installation. The nuts can be started on the side bolts and tightened after the replacement unit is dropped into the bracket that holds it into place.

I learned the hard way that the nuts just need to be loosened for removal on my 99 I30.

Do you have the replacement unit? You can see two bolts on each side of the unit.

There are 4 10mm screws you have to lossen. Depending on years 95-96 are bolts, 97-99 are nuts. Two in front on the side and two in the back in the side. The back right rear is the hardest to get too.

So true. I think I used a swivel head Gear Wrench to loosen the nuts. The right rear was a pain.
