New owner - CVT delay normal reverse to drive?

Hello all, I just purchased a new 2018 SR midnight edition. I am very pleased with the car but I do notice a delay in shifting from reverse to drive when stopped., feels like 1-2 seconds before it engages.
I have heard that CVT's can have a delay, is this normal? I have not had a CVT car previously.

I think it's normal. Shifting from neutral is fast enough, but it seems to take a little longer than my other cars traditional automatic when going from reverse to drive. it's closer to one second than two, if it exceeds 2 seconds there might be something wrong

That's 1-2 seconds of your life that you can never get back.

Oh vey, I just spent 30 seconds writing this comment. Time is the fire in which we burn.

I have a '17 SL with 12K miles and have posted the same thing on this site, and yet the delay can't be more than 1/2-1 sec. I believe it is normal. If I wait about 2 sec. after stopping in R before dropping it in D then there is no delay. Try it. The other thing I have done is slow it down in R 'til about stopped, but not quite (2-3 ft maybe), then drop it in drive. This will remove the delay too.

I don't remember having to do this any more but maybe I still do, or I have just learned to ignore it. I would not waste your time taking it to the dealer like I did, only to be told they all do that. I did not believe them so simulated a normal backup procedure on one of their new '18s and felt the same thing.

Things I find annoying about my 2017 maxima compared to my old 2011 Altima 3.5.

Delay when shifting from reverse to drive. The altima had no delay, maxima after shifting into drive you still have a wait another second or two for the transmission to engage.
Turning off the car has a delay, the altima would turn right off.

Things I like, the altima used to make a clunk noise when first moving forward (I think it was an anti-lock test). Maxima has no noise.

Minor things that I can live with but still annoying.....
