2010 Maxima with Knock ! After AC went out.

Car was purchased new At Executive Nissan in Ct it has 77,702 miles, in the last two days AC stopped blowing cold air AND most important a KNOCK developed , sounds obviously like The engine. Oil was changed at recommended intervals at Nissan dealer. A mechanic friend said it doesn't sound good , kinda like a rod Bearing ! He said Nissan knows these engines so it's off to Nissan tomorrow morning ! Are there any engine flaws that develop with these 2010 v6 engines. Are there ANY other items that could cause a sound LIKE Engine Knock ? Thanks in advance !

Well, if you had a mechanic look at i assume it isnt the belt fraying and hitting something making a knock. Couple that with ac not workin, that is my best guess, but no, these engines are pretty solid so no known issue causing wjat you describe

Like the Lt said above these engines are well built, I have a 2010 with 120,000 and my wife has a 2012 with about 73,000 and their both quiet. Have you checked if there's any play where the compressor pulley is while the car is running?

There is a huge thread on this site about the number one main bearing knock problem on the earlier 7th gens. Do a search and it should pop up.

Oh yes, we all know about that, but main bearing issues would have no correlation to AC failures. And quite frankly, those issues were limited to a few. We were trying to figure out something in the context of your post. If ANYONE has seen a main bearing break an AC, please advise!

Not sure what your trying to say ? Nissan dealer diagnosed problem as Bearing failure in AC Compressor ! It's not related to engine Main Bearing. but If Nissan put out a TSB in 2012 for Engine Main Bearing it had to be more than a few ! Anyway SUPPOSEDLY its NOT Engine Bearing so I will continue on trying to get AC fixed .👍
