2013 Knock In Engine

I know there are discussions about this and a TSB on a knock in engine when warm but I haven't seen what the actual fix is, I was talking to my mechanic the other day about it (not in person so he shouldn't see or hear anything) and he said if its a TSB and and there was a narrowed down fix it would be easier then trying to track the issue down

At this point they are replacing bearings at best. I had my knock diagnosed and then Nissan put in one main bearing. Disappointing.

I can still hear a faint knock after driving on the interstate. Their fix is just a band aid.

Keep in mind that for virtually all the VQ35DE engines affected the knock is a nuisance, it will not shorten the lifespan of the engine.

Welcome to the club buddy. I'll just say, Nissan should be ashamed of themselves.

Also, something related: I've just recently found out about the well known problem with Navaras and Pathfinders. Namely, main bearings wearing out and con rods developing cracks (due to con rods made out of cast iron). So it appears this isn't the first time Nissan's having bearing issues due to using inferior/wrong materials to assemble critical, internal engine parts.

Sorry fo going on a tangent like that but this whole thing is a travesty, and as a result, I think, Nissan should divorce Renault and become a decent company again.

I don't care what anybody says. A knock in a brand new car (many owners on this site can confirm that they indeed had the knock in their brand new maximas) is certainly not a nuisance ! It is unacceptable to drive around in a $40000 car with a knock thinking your engine may fail anytime. What a joke.

Correct, even some 3.7's suffer from it. Both my Z and Max suffer from it from time to time and I run premium in both!

There you go...So it's not a nuisance like some people would suggest on here. Your car is an example that this is a rather serious problem.

I have the same issue with the passenger airbag light. We should do a list of all of us here having that issue and call Nissan with the issue.
I am very concerned about that light being on and off whenever it wants.

Probably dumb question/statement on my part to you guys with the on/off airbag light but you do know that it comes on when SOME weight is detected on the seat but not enough to have the airbag deploy.

If you have some stuff on the seat (laptop, gallon of water, etc) then you're more likely to see it.

I'm assuming you probably know this but posted in the event you didn't. I remember thinking the same thing before being told.

Hope this helps and hopefully this is the case for you guys and there's no underlying issue.

No it's with another person on the seat. I understand the laptop and shopping bag situation but the airbag should be active if 40lb weight is detected on the passenger seat. My wife weighs more than that and I have to ask her to move her weight around when that light is on so the sensor detects that somebody is sitting on the seat. This is a very dangerous fault that Nissan has and it could get them in a very ugly lawsuit. I have heard other people on the forum with the exact same issue. God forbid you are in an accident and the airbag does not deploy because of their faulty sensor or improper placed padding that makes the sensor not trigger.

If your passenger wears the seatbelt, the benefit of the front airbag is mostly gone.

Sad to say, but front airbags were originally mandated protect those who refuse to wear seatbelts. Side airbags give a completely extra benefit for those wearing or not wearing seat belts.

yes, I am aware of this, if my wife (roughly 130lbs) sits there the light comes on. I can see if i put small objects on the seat but once ANY weight is on the seat the light comes on
