Modded my H&R's this weekend :0)

I finally decided to chop a full coil off my H&R's this weekend with help from my boy. Took us about 3hrs total to do the job with spring compressors and some nice air-tools. Overall its not slammed by no means, but about 1/2" lower than typical H&R 1.4" drop, but a lil higher than intrax. I didnt want Intrax low cause of my front lip(and soon to be installed side/rears). Not to mention my ride has IMPROVED dramatically, no more harshness on big bumps or holes in the road. It kinda floats over them. And NO its not bad struts or that Honda Bounce AT ALL!! It still has the same stiffness on turns as it did before, just on straight road its less bumpy thats all
and yes i have Tokico struts with about 30k on them, still goin strong.

Overall im very pleased and reccomend it to anyone with H&R and that is sick of being asked if your lowered or not
that finally got to me!!

I got Sprint's and cut two coils off the rear. Now the car looks even all around.

I'm going with GC coilovers soon though.

I guess you did this for looks? It won't improve your handling; in fact it will probably make it worse.

The reason I got H&R's was for handling. I don't care if the car looks barely lower.

Nope!! like i said my handling is exactly the same, just smoother on bumpy roads and about 1/2" lower all around.

I don't understand, how is it "smoother" and better on bumpy roads when you cut a coil off your springs? I thought the lower you go the worse it gets? and anyone would think that cutting any type of springs would make them less efficient than they originally were. So either I don't understand what you're saying, or if that is what you're saying, please explain!

Looks good Anthony...

But I'm surprised 1 coil was only .75" lower. Maybe it needs time to settle? Actually in your old sig pic the car looks really low - maybe the angle .

Remember though it will void any kind of warranty etc.

i had it done for FREE by a friend of mine.

i had the front springs cut from the bottom and the rears cut from the top. When you cut the rear spring from the bottom you would have to heat it up and bend it in onto the strut plate, i didnt want to heat it up and risk possibly cracking the spring. So i had my boy chop the top off. See the thing is when you cut a spring you wont gain any more drop but just cutting an actual coil off, rather its where the coil starts to turn upward is where it all matters. I had mine cut about 1/2" up from the flat part of the spring, very little. Im probably gonna do another 1/2" and be sitting where the "sprint spring" owners are at. Ill give them another week or so to settle in.

thanks for the props guys!

my sig pic is from last summer with un-cut H&R/Tokico combo and on my 17's, i should have new pics this week of my drop, new video system and polished manifold/FSTB.

Sweet. I cut my eibachs all around and I love it! The've been cut for over 40k miles with my tokikos, and no problems so far. Ride comfort suffered a bit (I feel almost every imperfection in the road), but it handles like it's on rails! Man, I have absolutly no brake dive or acceleration lift, and that set up with 18's and sticky tires, my 4 door hangs in the curves with the best of them....and it looks good too.

Couldn't tell ya exactly...I had my shop (RPM Motorsports in Boston) do it when they installed my springs and I told them how much gap between the wheel well and tire I wanted. They said no problem and cut the coils accordingly.
