My 99 maxima which has the common power steering hose leak and is it best to tight up the hose above the pump or maybe new washers ? Or should you just replace the hose ..

 

If it's leaking from the crush washers you can just get new crush washers. I'd just get a new hose if the hose is 20+ years old. People say the aftermarket hoses whine because of the thinner neck, but I just got the gates hose off rockauto and AFTER "bleeding" the air bubbles out of the system like you're supposed to I am completely quiet.

 

I ordered the Sunsong power steering hose from Rockauto. There is no noise after I carefully bled the system of air bubbles.
