8th Gen Maxima Questions

Hello everyone, I had some questions regarding prices and whatnot on 8th Gen Maximas! I absolutely LOVE this vehicle, my cousin had one and I fell in love with it the first time I sat in it. I currently drive a 2009 Cobalt LT and want to treat myself to a used 2017/2018 Maxima Platinum. First question is - How reliable are these CVT's in the newer Maxima's? I've only driven traditional automatics whether it be 4 speed or 6 speed, and I know a CVT takes some getting used to. Second off, How much should I look to pay for 10-20k miles on a 2017/2018 Platinum? I appreciate any info given, and I did some research and it seems that these new Maxima's are mostly rock solid in terms of drivetrain reliability. Thanks!tweakbox appvalley https://vlc.onl/

I believe the CVT is rock solid if you look after it and don't treat the car as a race car. Prices are region dependent, though I would think that as the manufacturers have temporarily stopped production that used car prices will eventually increase the longer the shut down.

Hey Felix,

I don’t think you have to worry too much about reliability. Nissan makes a lot of cheap cars which skews their record, but the Maxima is decent (just don’t expect it to be Toyota/Lexus quality).

you really should get in some quality test drives and decide for yourself if you like the feel of the CVT or not. I personally like it, its smooth, it’s got plenty of power when I need it, but it may or may not feel “connected” enough for you
