Hood won't stay propped open

My hood decided it no longer wants to stay open anymore. I was working in the engine bay when my hood decides to fall on my head. Thankfully I wasn't bent over inside the bay. Anyone have this issue or know how to tell if it's the lift cylinder or the hinge that needs to be replaced?

No doubt a faulty hinge.

About $30 for the pair. Works well and only takes a couple of mins to install. Just need a small blade screwdriver and either a buddy or a broomstick to prop up the hood when you change them out. NOTE: They will surprise you with their lifting power....first time I thought the hood was going to fly off as I was used to the laconic worn supports. If it were the hinge, they would still be attached to the strut (and not the car) when you regained consciousness from being knocked out.

Sweet thanks guys. Yeah I'm trying to avoid getting knocked out haha. Its going to be a huge relief knowing my hood will stay up for future work after this.
