Hood hard to close?

2016 maxima SR took home and popped hood to check out engine and when tried to close it took several tries and finally closed after pressing down very hard to where the panel almost bent. Wtf!!! Never owned a vehicle that was that difficult to close? Anybody else have same issue?

I have an SR. Mine is not hard to close. Yours probably needs to be checked.

Everything about a hood is adjustable. This enables us to have the best fit with matching gaps between hood and fender. If your hood is in perfect alignment with your fenders, then the adjustment should be made at the latch. Otherwise, if the height of the hood is not flush with the fenders, there is a rubber spiral-cut bumper at both of the front corners of the hood which can simply be turned clockwise or counterclockwise to lower or raise that corner of the hood.

Awesome advice thanks!! Worked like a charm! One side of the spiral bumpers was way off causing hood to close hard. Couple twists and she was good as new!! Loving this forum!

That might explain it - I've had that problem the one time I popped the hood on my new SR. My old Camry was as easy to close as a regular door.

Driver side door hard to close?

I've noticed that the driver side door on my SR requires some effort to close, especially from the inside. If I do a light pull, it doesn't always close correctly and the warning goes on. This tends to happen if, e.g., I open the door to check my parking and then try to close. Is this a known issue or should I have the dealer check it?

I would try the doors on another 2016 just to be sure your door is not the same.

Just as a note, the doors on the 2016 are clearly thicker and heavier than those on previous Maxima generations. This gives greater protection in side-impact crashes. The downside is that the doors are not as easy to open or close, and if one side of the car is sitting higher or lower than the other side (like on a sloped surface), then opening and closing these doors requires more effort and care than we are used to.

One other 'downside' of these thicker doors is a clearly wider sill that I have yet figured out how to get my leg over without getting my pant leg wet from water on the outside of the sill when it is/has been raining. But I do appreciate the greater side-impact protection.

As long as the door alignment with the latch is correct. Then
Try this - crack open/lower the driver window just enough to let air in and
out. Then close the door. I'll bet you now find it close's much easier. What
this means is the door seals are doing there job keeping noise and outside
air out.

Pretty normal.
